"We stayed at this hotel as from the many years that my family have lived in the North West the Midland Hotel is reputed to be the best in Manchester. We took my 90 year old Mother for Christmas lunch, which when booked at £90 per head seemed a little pricey but if it was going to be special then that was acceptable.
In the event the lunch was anything but special. Indeed it was the sort of lunch that a motorway service station would have produced.
Everyone had to spend tens of minutes queing to select food from the buffet. The starter course was reasonably good except that the centre piece was a whole salmon which had been cleaned to the bone by the time we got our turn! The main course was unbelievably bad - very salty Turkey or Beef that was more like shoe leather than meat. The deserts were even worse and completely unedable.
The restaurant selected for the lunch was their breakfast room and not their best dining room and as a result the ambiance was terrible. " - John Watkins

The Midland is one of Manchesters most famous landmarks. located on Peter Street adjacent to the G-Mex and Bridgewater Hall, The Midland is a four-star deluxe hotel that has existed at the heart of this vibrant city since 1903. It is in the heart of Manchester and comprises of 306 beautifully appointed rooms and Suites.
From 4th July 2005 until 9th September 2005 access to the Hotel will be via our Windmill Street entrance opposite the G-Mex Exhibition Centre.
Due to the Refurbishment of our Lounge this will be situated in The Colony Bar during this period. |
