For Paris the room was a decent size albeit compact but a full sized double bed and daily maid service and separate toilet/shower and window opend fully onto Blvd Magenta. The TV was basic French channels and no satellite but for the money I was quite satisfied. Free Wi-FI a definite PLUS! DId not try the breakfast but very good bakery at the corner with croque monsieur for E2.50 and also Alsacian specialy shop nearby at Gare D'Lest. I walked from Gare du Nord and quite convenient if coming from London for the weekend. Three metro lines serve Gare De L'est and bus service too. This is a typical tourist class hotel- no real frills - a room with comfortable bed and decent service and reception was very nice and all understood and spoke good English.
Too many of the reviews I read before staying here gave the hotel a bad name. To an American used to traveling in America and staying in hotels there, yes, the rooms are small. But compared to my other experiences traveling through Europe, the size of the rooms were perfectly respectable. Anyway, if you're in Paris, you shouldn't be staying in the room all the time. The staff was very helpful and friendly, the breakfast was great and a money saver (it was included with my reservation), and the hotel is in an EXCELLENT location, only a block or so away from Gare de l'est metro hub. The walls are somewhat thin, but again, not unusual for Europe and considering the cost, definitely not a negative. To summarize: A great hotel unless you are intending to stay in your room all the time, and even then it's still pretty good. I would definitely return here.
room for 1 adult, Ensuite
room for 2 adults, ensuite
Hotel is in the good location but very small. Good value for money
A nice clean hotel VERY close to Gare de l'est where the Metro took you into the city in less than 10 minutes. You could also walk in about 30 minutes. If you opened the windows there was a lot of noise, but when the windows were closed you could hear nothing. The room is small but you have what you need for a 4 day stay. The breakfast room is small (only 14 people can eat at the same time), but we got a table every day. The breakfast is OK, juice, coffee/tee, croissants. We would definitely stay there again some day.
For Paris standards the hotel was good, although everything was cramped, including the breakfast room.
Nice Hotel. WIFI not working though.
Very good location, near many buses and subways stations. Staff kindly and friendly .Good service and cleaning ( change towels daily). Many possibilities in area to eat (fast food, bistro ) and coffee. To the next visiting Paris i will chose the same hotel.
The hotel is situated at a boulevard and caused through the heavy traffic it is noisy during the day and even in the night. In spite of that we slept not too bad cause we were very tired from sightseeing. We had a room on the 4th floor, the room was clean but very small. Service at the hotel is very friendly, breakfast was ok too. The best of the hotel is the location (50 meters away from the subway/underground and gare de l´est), opening 24hours and the cheap price. For having lunch or dinner we recommend the center of Paris, especially saint germain des pres.
The Wifi doesn't really work and is not free. Rooms are very small, but it is always the case in this kind of hotels in Paris. In my opinion, it deserves more 2 stars than 3.
Really good considering the price and convenience!!
Reception staff were very helpful and friendly, breakfast room was extremely inadequate, 14 seats only in a hotel boasting 32 rooms, guests had to line up for breakfast. Breakfast was also disappointing and waitresses lacked any personality or friendliness. There was no satellite TV as advertised, if you didn't speak french you can forget about watching TV as the 4 channels available were in french. No bar fridge in room, rooms extremely small, housemaids do not knock before entering room, 2 mornings of my stay they let themselves into my room when my partner was undressed. Walls were not sound proof, we could hear people in next rooms and hallways, however, there was no noise from the street. Hotel is located in a not so nice part of Paris, I wouldn't stay there again nor would I recommend the hotel. 3 Stars is over-rated.
very clean, even if many things in the room seemed ready to come loose and fall apart; little space for taking breakfast that causes waiting interminable minutes; compensated by a very forthcoming personnel (more polite and more helpful than in Milan for instance). The price, however, is a little too high (almost 100 euros per one night); subway station behind the building: metro 4 will take you to Notre-Dame (Saint Michel station) in approximately 15 minutes. I would recommend you to speak a little bit of French! I would go back any time!
This is a budget hotel in the centre of Paris and is no more nor less than you would expect. Good location near Gare de L'est and Gare du Norde. Reception staff very helpful and friendly.
We were made welcome by the receiption personnel & any requests were promptly dealt with. Thanks
receptionists were welcoming, very helpful. we arrived early and were able to leave our luggage safely at the hotel and go off to the lovre- within walking distance and not to be missed. the bed was a comfortable firm but the pillows too flat for our liking. no kettle in the room which we had hoped their would be but no objection to taking your own drinks in. Breakfast - cheerful young lady brings food/drink to your table. but no choice on the food. one large croissant and a stick of bread. plus drink. very small and crowded. but friendly. Situated between the Gare du Nord & the Gare du L'est. buy a carnet of tickets = book of ten. to hop on and off the metro. 10.50 euros.
Excellent location near Gare du Nord train station and great value for money.
Very helpful and welcoming staff. This is my third Paris hotel experience on this trip, and the only good one. The main drawback here is the noise -- people conversing at the top of their lungs throughout the night on the street below the window (even industrial earplugs did not drown it out). Not recommended for the light sleeper -- for everyone else, it's a good bet. I would stay at the Alane again.
The Wireless Internet access was not for free.
Close to Gare de Nord for the Eurostar. Good for local transport and walking.
I enjoyed my stay at the Alain Hotel, it was a great location in Paris, handy to good restaurants metro etc ,very central and clean.
