"Located in the centre of the Old Town, it is difficult to drive to (taxi recommended) - the food was odd and I couldn't recommend it to Brits - hotel caters mainly for German guests but even they were unhappy with the food I was told. Drinks were expensive. Reception staff excellent though. Didn't appreciate the argument I got into with the individual who carried my bags to my room for me - I didn't tip him enough !!! In his opinion! I upgraded to a better room for 50 Euros (and carried my own bags), but even that room had gaps in the blind slats and a bathroom door that wouldn't actually close. Jacuzzi was good but lighting in bathroom meant that I couldn't actually see to put my contacts in (lost one). Women/make-up - no chance. Drinks in mini-bar VERY expensive. Don't even go there. Handy for harbour though and taxi to airport was only 32TL one way, 50TL the other (in middle of night)." - Craig Moore

A sublime Ottoman-style mansion set in the old city whose every original detail has been restored by a team of Turkish architects and European interior designers – a boutique hotel heaven for discerning visitors. Completed in 1998, this hotel is a masterwork of sensitivity in historic preservation, which features wooden arches, carved ceilings, and massive fortress-like doors rescued from the original structures. These residences were originally built for wealthy merchants to receive their visitors, and a feeling of wonder and privilege is what seduces guests today.
Some of the more regal units have stained-glass windows and sea views, while all of the rooms, each one with its own special character, have elegant, even flamboyant decor. Room categories are divided among standard, deluxe, and special, the last all equipped with Jacuzzis. The Mahsen Restaurant offers a carefully selected open buffet menu which is served in the courtyard beside the pool every evening. Or you can dine in the more informal Alp Pasa Cafe which features fantastic Italian dishes. Finally, the hotel has a lovely garden, a historical well and two courtyards, one with a pool, characteristics which give the feeling of staying in a Sultan's Palace.
