Alpina Hotel Chamonix Mont Blanc

We had a very pleasant experience at the Alpina during a weekend ski trip. The room was decently sized and clean (mountain view side) and the reception counter was very helpful in providing information on getting around. We passed on 14 euro/person/day breakfast, but there is a supermarket around the corner as an alternative. There is a rental shop in the basement which is reasonably priced, and the hotel is adjacent to a bus stop and close to the center of activity in Chamonix, making getting around the area very easy.

Great Hotel with a fantastic view of Mont Blanc. The only hitch we had was with the booking through the Hotel Club website. It stated that the rooms would allow an infant bed, but when we got to the hotel, they made us "upgrade" to a different room because they claimed the room we booked didn't support a crib. We ended up in a room with a view, but it cost us extra. Otherwise, very nice Hotel.

The service at the restaurant is exceptional! Esp. the waiters! A credit to the hotel! However, the reception's service needs improvement. On our last day their, the receptionist was very good but it's a different one than the ones usually there who looked like they would rather be somewhere else! (Not surprising considering Chamonix is best enjoyed outdoors) However, a hotel reception should always be warm and smiley, not cold and dead... The hotel's facilities and decor also need updating to bring it into the 21st century. In its' heyday of 1970s, it must have been grand, but in 2007, it's over 30 years out of fashion. We love Chamonix, but next time, we might opt for a chalet instead.

Hotel a bit worn down inside. Rooms, corridors and other common facilities would need a shape up, re-painting etc.

I was pleasantly surprised by the Alpina Hotel as I only booked it at the last minute. The rate was excellent and the location was second to none. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony facing Mont Blanc, which was an added bonus. I will stay here again in the future.

The hotel was very central and had some good facilities. The rooms were clean and well-serviced.

Our stay at the Alpina Hotel was very enjoyable. It was located in the center of town, which was small so everything was close by. The hotel staff was nothing but helpful and multilingual. We paid a wonderful price for good quality, I would highly recommend it to anyone.
