The Blue mountains is only 90mins from downtown Sydney and can be reached by car, rail shuttle and scheduled services.
From Sydney by car the most direct approach is to head west along Parramatta Rd to the M4 motorway and joining the Great Western Highway to Katoomba.

From Katoomba station motel is only 10mins walk or a short taxi ride.
