1st time at this hotel, great location near Te Papa and the Harbour. Previously stayed other 'side' of town, more to see at this end. Very pleasantly surprised at room, lounge, view, chocolates and service. Will definately do it again.

Great place to stay. Awesome room with great views. Club lounge refreshments could do with some work in regards to variety and quantity available - for a 24 hr service it is very limited the exception to this comment would be the breakfast service.

Excellent rooms, extremely spacious and well thought out, reception staff efficient but not overly friendly. The only downside was the level of street notice and the howling wind whistling through the window at night, so didn't sleep very well, next item to do would be double glazing

all the things above were excellent,and the staff were friendly and very helpful from the cleaning staff to the managers, every morning when we went out the maids always greeted us with a friendly smile and happy "good morning" my experience at the amora was extremely pleasant,and the food was excellent. would highly recomend this hotel.the rooms were clean,big and had lovely window views.
I got an outrageously good deal booking through hotel club for this hotel. The room had been refurbished and was very modern, clean and comfortable. The remainder of the refurb should be done by Feb 2011.

Our stay was superb in one of their newly refurbished rooms. Beautiful view out to the harbour. All staff were helpful and very polite. We will stay there again when we go to Wellington.

The room was refurbished and very nice except the bathroom, the air conditioning was noisy. Overall the hotel is very good and very central.
Upgraded from standard room to a suite, extremely comfortable. As I own a small motel and am hands on everything the above was truly appreciated. Excellent restaurant meal and service. One minor item missing was no sugar.
Fantastic newly refurbished room with a huge comfortable bed. Only problem was the noisy air conditioning. Well - there was a party going on next door - but hey - it was the lead up to Xmas!
My wife and I felt a little let down with the Duxton in Wellington. The deal we went for was the Duxton Affair. This came with deluxe room, a bottle of brut and buffet breakfast. The Duxton has started a renovation program but the room we had still had worn 80s decor. We were hoping for a nice romantic room. Although the wine was cold, it didn’t come in a cooler bucket and one of the wine glasses had a chip in it. Other than that the hotel was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is excellent for a walk down the wharf or a wonder to Cuba Street for dinner. There is a lot of restaurants and bars nearby. We had a buffet breakfast which had a wide range of cooked and continental food. Once the refurbishment is complete, this will be a very good hotel to go to.
