"Have stayed in this hotel many time, but this is not a luxorious hotel as you now state , I found it to be dated, the location has changed and is now positioned away from the city itself, ferry OK every 1/2 hour but for the money have stayed in better places, wont be going back, upon check in no booking could be found in our name, eventually everythink OK " - Anonymous

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Amstel, we stayed for 10 days and found that the breakfast became very boring after a couple of days, more variety would definitly help " - Andy Cox
"a good clean place to stay . its on the other side of the bay the ferry is free and leaves every 30mins. the ferry is only 100m from the main train station. it can be a bit of a hassle but once you get used to its very enjoyable.
ps if you suffer from motion sickness you may need to reconsider.
