Check-in Time: 2:30 PM
Check-out Time: 12:00 PM
Getting there:Planes: From the Airport just follow the City Centre road all the way in. No turns until you reach Princes Street, Edinburgh’s main street, with shops on one side and the Castle on the other. As you reach Princes Street, turn right onto Lothian Road and then first left onto King’s Stables Road. Follow this road as it winds its way around the foot of the Castle. After approximately 400 metres you will come out into the Grassmarket, where the Apex City is located. Trains: The Grassmarket is only a 10 minute walk to the south of the Station but we recommend that you take a taxi (5 minutes) as the approach is quite hilly in parts, especially near the Castle. Automobiles: If you are driving into Edinburgh the simplest way to get to the City Hotel is to head for Princes Street, Edinburgh’s main street. You will immediately see the Castle and the Grassmarket is located directly behind it.
Check-in Procedure:Check-in from 2.30 pm. A Credit or Debit card will be required upon check in.
Car parking:Reduced fee of £8 for an overnight stay, subject to availability - 7 spaces. Car Parking also available at Apex International Hotel or an overnight car park is 500 yards from the hotel.
Child Policy:Children aged 5 and under stay free in a room with paying adults.
Overall was ok, quite well located, just few minutes walking from Royal Mile, in very lively street. Main complain, breakfast, it is very expensive, considering the many options around the hotel, and it is not a buffet, you need to order and they bring it to you, and there are not many options, we only had breakfast there one day.
Had no wifi from day one. Made three calls to wifi support, and contacted the front desk to no avail. Helpdesk said to use a wired connection, but front desk only had one ethernet cable for the entire hotel: they might want to think about buying more. A bit noisy on the street (not the hotel's fault and they did humorously supply ear plugs) but the view to Edinburgh Castle was very nice, indeed. All in all, not bad.
Edinburgh city centre in August - it couldn't be anything other than moderately expensive. A great location, just 5 minutes from the Castle and the Royal Mile. Pity that the central heating was out of control - the corridors were stiflingly hot.
The best thing going for this hotel is the location. It is right well placed for sightseeing (the Castle overlooks the hotel), places to eat and nightlife and only a 15 minute walk or £5 cab ride from Princes Street and the shops and quality restaurants. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel but the staff and bar facilities are excellent. There were 2 free internet stations as well on each floor which was very useful when looking for places to go and things to do.
Very enjoyable stay. Friendly staff, clean and well kept room. Highly recommended.
nice hotel - good service - very frendly - central location
excellent location, helpful staff
The Apex City is located on Grassmarket street almost directly beneath Edinburgh Castle. There is quite a bit to see and do within walking distance of the hotel. There are many nice restaurants and pubs within a short walking distance as well. it’s also easy to catch a cab or a bus to get to any place that you are going out of walking distance.
Requested 3 consecutive rooms looking onto the castle, and these were allocated without any problem. The hotel is very central and only 5 minutes walk to The Royal mile. The staff were friendly, knowledgable and very helpful.
Excellent Hotel, very pleasant stay
Despite it's location near several pubs, it was surprisingly quiet inside. Some of the towels were a little dirty with black stain marks. The staff member who handled check-in was rather cold upon arrival and did not appear to want to be there. The restaurant however had a great atmosphere and great coffee. A little inconvenient to run outside 2 buildings down the street to use the facilities - gym and swimming pool.
very enjoyable and relaxing stay. excellent service. beautiful location and views fgrom hotel
Would recommend this hotel to all my friends and work colleagues.
highly reccomend great location clean and tidy
A terrific place to stay for the Edinburgh Festival, close to most main venues. Comfortable and helpful staff.
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and found it to be one of the best we have stayed at, Upon arrival staff were very pleasant and helpful they also upgraded our room. We only had breakfast in the hotel the food was of good standard also the staff were again very pleasant and helpful. Would defiantly stay again in this hotel.
The breakfast was terrible. Should have a self-serve buffet.
Our stay here for a weekend break was extremely disappointing. We were not able to check in even though we arrived well after the specified time. We were then given the wrong room keys for our room and had to wait for a further hour or more until that confusion was resolved. The room was not quiet due to a school party on the same corridor. This is a good hotel in a good location but let down by poor management. I have drawn these shortcomings to the attention of the hotel and hopefully they will not happen to others. Certainly not a 4 Star experience when we were there.
Edinburgh castle can be seen from the hotel. It is within easy walking distance of all the best places. Grassmarket has many very good pubs and restaurants in walking distance. Get a deal that includes breakfast, it is very expensive if you do not.
Excellent location for the old town, good pubs and restaurants just across the road. A stones throw from the castle and Royal Mile. Good choice and quality of breakfast. Car parking could be a problem.
