"We stayed 3 nights. it is a brilliantly designed boutique hotel (a fantastic combination of historic features & contemporary design & amenities within a historic building (with a modern '80's extension at the rear) hotel that has recently re-opened. Great housekeeping service at any time! Complimentary tea & coffee facilities plus biscuits & bottled water replacements daily (very handy considering corner shop's water price!) Fantastic bar & lounge area. Excellent location (just 3min walk from Princess Str. All clean, tidy, friendly & helpful stuff. Cosy Spa with swimming pool, sauna, steam room, lockers & plenty of towels on site. The highlight of our stay: a in-room full Scottish breakfast "on the house" on my birthday! Hotel description:    Built in 1819, the Waterloo Hotel was the first purpose-built large scale hotel in Edinburgh. It recently returned to hotel trading after 120 years as the Apex Waterloo Place Hotel, and is located moments from Waverley train station and the city’s main shopping district. Apex Waterloo Place combines the traditional features of this historic building with the contemporary style that Apex Hotels have become well known for.
