"The Hotel Reception Desk was rude and terrible. There was construction going on at the hotel during our stay that was not advertized, and they were not very accomodating.
On the flip side, the restaurant is excellent. The service and food there are both great.

"This hotel is a contradiction. It is rated three stars. The dining room is worth fiv stars, some of the best food I have ever eaten. The breakfast however gets zero stars. Cold bacon, dry eggs.
The room was clean but very spartan. Lacking any but the essential facilities. No hair dryer. No pictures on the wall. A weird looking steel locker room type locker for clothes.They forgot my wake up call. Had I been meeting a flight I would have been in trouble. Fortunately I awoke without the call but they seemed not to be worried. Otherwise the front desk was helpful, polite, and cheerful. " - Lawrence Solway

The Hotel Arena is a first class hotel, a city monument, in the city centre of Amsterdam. The 127 stylish and comfortable rooms are all with private bathroom, television and telephone. The rooms at Hotel Arena vary in size and shape and are all decorated in light tones and minimalist chic furniture’s. Authentic elements have been combined with warm colours, wooden floors and designer furniture to create a unique atmosphere.
Hotel Arena is centre of both international and local culture and activity. The accent is upon hosting cultural events, and the facilities consist of a hotel, bar, restaurant, club, and conference rooms. These are called respectively TOSTAY, TODRINK, TODINE, TONIGHT and TOMEET. The Hotel is easily reachable both by car and by public transport. There is a parking area on the grounds.
It was built in 1890 and first used as Roman-Catholic orphanage. Later it became an old age home, and in the 1980's a youth hostel. A number of noted designers participated in the renovation, and the result is a modern but character-full building.
