Be careful with the windows. In my (dark and damp) room, the cleaner kept on leaving the window open. But the window didnt close properly, so it could easily (simply by pushing) be opened from outside. And this being a basement/ground floor room, any malicious individual could easily have stepped through the man-sized window.
The room was clean if a little dated, and the tea/coffee facilities a little sparce. It was very comfortable, and surprisingly warm even without the radiators on. This meant the need to have the windows open, which meant you were woken by the revellers leaving the pub next door at some quite late hours. The location is however good. Only a 20 minute walk to Glasgow town centre. On the door step is a beautiful park. The staff were friendly and knowledgable. The staff at breakfast especially good. There are a number of nice restaurants in the location should you not want to eat at the hotel restaurant. There are also a number of pubs, and I can recommend the Park Bar for a weekends nighttime entertainment (500 yds at most from reception). All in all a good place to stay at about the right kind of money.
Myself and my partner were going to a concert at the S.E.C.C which was a five minute walk from the Argyle Hotel. We arrived at the Hotel a little later than planned, having got lost on the way, my fault, not the location of the hotel. The Argyle Hotel has a restaurant below it and we popped in for a bite to eat. We were in a rush and the staff were extremely good. We were in and out in half an hour. Reception gave us drinks vouchers when we arrived, so we only had to pay for our meal. I was very impressed with this hotel and would definately go back.
Very comfortable stay, lovely warm room. Breakfast across at the hotel was very good. Would stay again.
Enjoyed our stay. Good breakfast, and friendly staff
Great hotel. Very basic, but very nice. Tea and Coffee,Kettle,TV,Alarm Clock. If your just stopping over for a day or so,its ideal. I was in Glasgow for a concert and because of where the hotel was situated,i had a bit of a trek, and would probably look for a hotel more central next time. But regarding the Argyle,no complaints.
We were surprised to find that we could have broadband in our own room, a big plus for us. This hotel is on a corner site and parking is available on the side street, also a big plus. I would stay here again.
wouldnt recommend it. Room was on the street level, facing the busy street with lots of noise and a level of insecurity. With your organization weren,t able to select appropriate room.
