"This hotel was an oasis of cleanliness in a charming but grimy city! Travelling with children meant we really appreciated this, together with the very friendly and accommodating service. The top floor library and the custard tarts are also very special! The decor of the hotel has been done extremely tastefully - very different from the run-of-the-mill. "Wonderful, lazy breakfasts in a relaxing little garden will prepare you for the day ahead. My only quibble is that they never had cutlery out for breakfast so if you needed another spoon or knife you had to ask. The beds were a bit too hard and pillows a bit too flat. (although, if you ask you can get a different pillow – yes, it’s true the English don’t like to ask). A better policy might be to have a small questionnaire in the room to fill in after the 1st night. The reception staff were extremely friendly. We always walked from the Hotel to Barrio Alto, as the little streets were always interesting, whilst others caught a taxi or private tour car! There’s a bus stop right by the Hotel too. Got a great offer through the web for this Hotel hence the value for money rating. If you pay full price make sure you get a room with views of the river." - Anonymous
