locate at the suitable for chatting with friends and convienence for moving around the city with tram.
Located right in front of Rembrant Square with a tram station, plenty of cafe and restaurants. Rooms are clean and beds are comfordable. Our room does not come with attached bathroom, we need to share the bathroom and toilet outside the corridor, but they are clean. A little noisy from the cafe down the street if you don't mind. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. Be prepare to walk up the steep staircase with your luggage as they don't have a lift in the hotel. Overall, this is a good hotel to stay in the city and I don't mind to come back again.
Fair price. spacious room but the hotel ad about jacuzzi in the bathroom is exaggerated. it is not a jacuzzi but a bath tub with a noisy fountain jet. it is so noisy that it might wake up the whole neighbourhood (luckily the neighbourhood is the swinging disco-going variety). also, the wash basin is tiny. otherwise, the room has the ambiance of your grandmother's 17th century farm house. the furniture looks ancient despite the presence of a state-of-the-art lcd tv set. wall-to-wall carpeting is very old and suburban looking too. apart from these minor gripes, staff are very friendly and breakfast is very very good, although it costs an extra 7 euros. early sleepers would be disturbed by the incessant drum beat that comes from the night club downstairs but it stops around 1230 at night.
Fantastic staff very helpful. Room was basic but good. Nightclub across street went till 4am (dof dof dof) but if you are in Amsterdam for all the things Amsterdam is famous for you will love it. Cafe's both food and non food are all close by.
Very small room overlooking square. Not a hotel for a long stay. Seem to be a small double bed sueezed into a single room. Breakfast light, but adequate.
Warning if you have very heavy suitcases - the stairs in this hotel are the steepest I've ever seen! The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable but pretty small. I was quite noisey in the evenings with all the bars below but in a fantastic location.
The Hotel was well located, and good price. Repeatedly asked for a double bed rather than 2 single beds, and had agreement but no action from the staff. The staff were unable to provide us with an Iron to use at any stage.
The room was not large, there was no bathroom (we had to share with others on our floor though, admittedly, we never had to wait for a shower or to use the toilet), and breakfast cost 7 Euros. BUT, this is Amsterdam, a densely populated city. In any other city, we would not have paid 70 Euros for a night, but in Amsterdam this seemed like good value. The hotel was right outside a tram stop which headed into Amsterdam Central. If you did not want to pay the 2.5 Euro tram fare, it was about a 20-minute walk to the station. The hotel was within walking distance to the Red Light District, Anne Frank Museum, and right outside Rembrandt Square. We did not eat at the restaurant next door but it had 7.50 main dishes which seemed quite sizeable, and that's coming from someone who could eat for their country. If you're short on funds but don't want to stay in a hostel, give this place a try.
The hotels location is superb and the staff very friendly and helpful. Disappointed with the deluxe rooms lack of tea/coffee making facility's and "view" from bedroom window - roof tiles!
Great location, hotel good value for money. View from window was a tiled roof inches from the window, however room nice and warm. Steep stairs in hotel
hotel staff excellent stayed off peak therfore no noisy bar revellers below, I expect it could be quite lively in the summer, but thats what we all love about Amsterdam. would stay again and recomend.
very good location if you want to head out. would not recommend taking large suitcases as you'll need to carry these up the very steep stairs!!
There are some comments here about noise. My room was probably in the worst place for noise (first floor, facing the square) and I didn't really notice much disturbance - that said, I was there during the week (Mon->Fri) and not the weekend.
We had two rooms on the 3rd level facing the courtyard. The view was beautiful. There is no lift so be prepared for three flights of very steep and narrow stairs. We thought it was worth it. This is not a modern hotel but if you want character and charm this is perfect.
All in all great location, reasonably priced. No complaints. City has become ultra expensive unfortunately.
Good location, Irish bar underneath St James Gate worth a visit I think they should mention that they don't have a lift as the stairs are very steep and it is quiet difficult to carry a bag up 2 flights of stairs Overall we had a great time in Amsterdam
The location is great, lots of restaurants around and it seems a very nice area of town. The noise level from the streets (once the clubs drop out their drunks) will interfere with any light sleeper. The staff is international and very friendly, though it's recommended to have your receipt of the payment with you when you check out (we were almost charged again, cause he didn't know it was paid already!) Parking is tricky, onstreet is way too expensive, but we found the Musiekcenter parking garage (40 Euro/day) very secure and in walking distance. The room was nice and cozy, the twin bed a bit wobbly, but overall, a good stay and nice atmosphere.
We booked a twin room. When we arrived we were only offered a double room. We refused to accept this and were given a de-luxe room for one night and then had to move rooms the next day. We felt it was a bad start to our short holiday. While this hotel is in a good location it is extremely noisy at night because of two large pavement restaurants on the street below. The heat in the room made it impossible to sleep with the windows closed.
great location, small rooms and quite warm but good value for and perfect for short break
The staff were always polite and available. The room was very comfortable and well furnished.
