"Nice hotel with very good location - right in the centre of Ponta Delgada, near the shopping mall and car rentals. The ambience is rather modest and seems like the hotel needs renovation, although the rooms are very clean and quite spacious. The photos do not reflect the real impression of the premises. The hotel is partially overlooking the port area, but not the open sea. Actually, no beaches were found in the town.

Leave the airport on the motorway. Follow the road in a slight left turn and take the first exit “Ponta Delgada / Porto”. Drive down the alley with trees on both sides. It will lead you to a roundabout with a huge fountain in the middle. Turn left and follow the sign, Centro. Drive along the Rua de Lisboa past the sugar factory Sinaga and the Royal Garden Hotel. Carry on until you find the beer factory, Melo Abreu to your left and the theatre to your right. Turn right and drive past the church of São José to the main road with a fort. Turn left and drive along the harbour and carry straight on. Drive past a square with the city gates on your left and just after the head office of, SATA turn left. The hotel Avenida is on your left. |
