Come and see the hotel's inspiring views such as of S. Jorge Castle, Avenida da Liberdade and Marquês de Pombal. Whether resting in your room or socialising in one of the common areas, you'll find the balance perfect. All 82 rooms have just been completely renovated and elegantly furnished in a classic style.

Avenida Palace Hotel Lisbon Guest Reviews

5 out of 5

Loved it. This is not your modern, could-be-anywhere, anonymous hotel. It's probably not the ideal place for younger travellers either (unless they appreciate events like the live opera performance in the grand salon!). But if you want a hotel that is in a perfect location, in the center of it all, in walking distance to many major sights and the posh shops, and that seems to embody the amazing history of Lisbon and Portugal, then this is your place. Excellent breakfast buffet in a grand dining room with crystal chandeliers, cosy bar, excellent wireless internet (free), and very friendly staff. Only minor complaint was the marble bathroom could do with a little updating.

Best location in the city. Next to train station and metro which made it very easy to get away to Fatima, Sintro and Cascaes. Hotel is located in Rossio square which is where the best shopping is located. Many good restaurants with in a block or two from the hotel. Excellent breakfast included in price of room with both american (bacon and scrambled eggs) and european (salmon, meats) served. Great cup of coffee also. Room was good size with a marble bathroom. It really is a former palace and it shows in the main foyer and dining room. Located on a busy street but we did not have any problem with noise in our room. Hotel staff very helpful with directions and information. I felt it was a great value and would stay here again. I only gave amenities 4 stars because the hotel provided computer has a fee to use the internet.

Very well located hotel in the centre. In view of traffic noise room at courtyard side is essential. Very friendly en helpfull personnel. Great breakfast buffet. We booked for superior room however the double bed was extremely small.

The Avenida Palace is a truly splendid hotel. As the Hotel's name suggests, one has the experience of living in a palace. The facilities, the way the rooms are equipped, the understated excellence of the staff, all contribute to making this a top hotel, comparable to any I have stayed in in the world. Its position on the Praca dos Retauradores is outstanding - right in the heart of Lisbon. I recommend this hotel without reservation.

This is a nice hotel right in the center of the city. You can easily walk to Bairo Alto and Alfama and more from it. The hotel itself is nice. It's not modern, but it's comfortable.

Perfect location in the heart of the city. Lobby, restaurant and banquet rooms in the decor of a 19th century palace. The room would benefit from some investment in refurbishment (e.g. the very small TV was a little bit outdated), however, it was spacious and clean. Breakfast buffet was excellent.

The position of the hotel was great. The public areas were delightfull. We booked 4 nights at the beginning of Feb and were upgraded from a superior double to a junior suite which was brilliant. One or two gripes, for a five star hotel all the toiletries were substandard, with no body lotion, only 4 tissues in tiny box. The bathroom was functional but no more.

The hotel is very nice, the twin beds were small and hard despite the room being spacious enough to accomodate something much bigger and better. The facilities in the room were very basic and not of the standard of a 5* hotel. There is no spa at the hotel despite it being mentioned in the particulars. When asked the staff just said next year. A bit disappointing given it is a five star hotel, more like a 3.5 or 4 at best.

A great hotel. Very comfortable. Attentive. My only criticism is that the curbside service seemed a little too fussy, in that the bellperson insisted on taking our bags when we were dropped off by taxi, when we only had two bags and it would have been easier for us to roll them in on our own, or at least been given the choice. Otherwise, we had a terrrific time at the hotel. Thanks, patrick m.

This a wonderful hotel situated in the best area in Lisbon for tourists. The staff were very friendly and we were upgraded to a suite on arrival. The breakfast was delicious. I would definitely stay there again. I would request a twin room as the double bed was very small.

For a pricey hotel with palacial public rooms the bedroom was very tight. The place was dead; no life or sparkle in it. Only facilities were bar and lots of palacial sitting areas. But in Central Lisbon you probably do not need more. When we arrived receptionist was dealing with something on the computer then a phone call and did not even acknowledge our presence. I was very concerned at lack of fire doors/compartmentation particularly the grand staircase which was open through the building and was labelled as a fire escape.

My warmest congratulations for the friendly atmosphere, the excellent restauration of this magnifiscent building, the attractive ambiance due to both the right selection of illuminance levels and the music level around the areas, the maintenance of all the spaces and rooms and the generous supplies in everything a customer should use for his convenience! The hotel is rated 5 star. It is an older building, but beautiful. The rooms are smaller and a lot more modest that I expected. However after looking at other hotels in Lisbon, I found it to be a great hotel. It has the best location in town. We walked everywhere. Great and friendly staff and great breakfast with wonderful view.

Avenida Palace is not a luxury hotel since the facilities are poor. The room standard is not top class, but in the same time time this conseravtive preservation is an important part of its charm. Beautiful interior and excellent breakfast. I would recommend this to a senior couple (most of the were at my visit) on a leisure trip to Lisbon, not if you are a business man. However, if you want to stay in the central area of old Lisbon, this is the place.

Very pleasant stay. Breakfast was good with hot and cold food. Room was clean. We had twin beds not double which was unexpected but not a major issue. Pleasant room with a little seperate enclosed area between the bedroom and bathroom that kept the noise down. Right by the lifts but weren't disturbed. 6th floor with room facing in, so relatively quiet even though in the town centre. The inside of the hotel is very attractive.

I found it extraordinary that a 5 * rated hotel had no restaurant or gym/pool facilities, other than that, the service was wonderful, friendly, and the hotel itself was magnificent, plumbing suspect. Had a wonderful time in Avenida Palace

Beautiful old hotel in great location, but tends to be a bit noisy as it sits at a very busy intersection.
