Avenue Hotel Amsterdam Guest Reviews

4 out of 5

I booked my first trip to Amsterdam and decided to stay at the Avenue hotel. I got there at 6 am and I wasn't able to check into my room so I had to pay $50 euro for another room and check into my room at 2 pm. I wasn't that happy about that but the free continental breakfast made up for it. The hotel is conviniently located in the middle of the city. You are within walking distance of a lot of museums, red light district, barney's coffee shop. If not you have the tram right across the street that you can take anywhere in the city. The phone in my room didn't work and I told the receptionist in the lobby and she looked lost and didn't know what to do about that. Other than that everything else was good.

My friend and I had a pleasant stay at the Avenue Hotel Amsterdam over a weekend in November. It was our first visit and we had no knowledge of the Dutch language, unfortunately, but the staff was very friendly and English-speaking, and very helpful when we asked what we could do in the city or asked to book a cab for us on our way back to the airport. The room was clean and comfortable though we occasionally noticed from the smell that our neighbors were smoking. We were also grateful for the free Wifi internet access. The city is small and easy to move about to start with, but the hotel location definitely helped us explore with ease.

The single room was very small but the bathroom was modern and clean. The bed was too soft. Location is excellent, breakfast (included) was basic and crowded. I would stay at this hotel in future as well, since the price/comfort ratio was quite all right.

The hotel was in the center of town. Very convenient to the shopping, sights and more. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only down point to the hotel was there was no iron or ironing facilities in the room. And there was only small wall lighting in the bedroom which made it pretty dark.

I am a repeat guest at this hotel. Prefer to stay here as it is close to Amsterdam Central Station, on several streetcar lines, convenient to shopping and dining. It has a fantastic breakfast buffet included in the room rate, pleasant staff and well kept rooms. I purchased this hotel with airfare on Orbitz and got an even better deal with the package air/hotel rate. Ask for room to the rear ( off main street) and you will get a very nice quiet nights sleep, too

The hotel is only a few minutes away from the train station and near the tram line. The breakfast was really good, the best bread, eggs, meat, cereals, etc. It was enough food to last until dinner. ALL of the staff were friendly and helpful. One day I was given a towel and it was almost completely shredded in the middle, ha! I had one tiny bar of soap for the entire week.. It was an adventure, but if I am in Amsterdam I might stay there again. They covered the important things like being quiet, safe, and at a good location. Why not!!

I have stayed in the Avenue before and find it to be an ideal place to stay as it is only 5 Mins from Central Station and the Damrak. It is also on one of the main Tram Lines and is therefore easy to get to anywhere to wish to visit within the City.

This hotel is close to Amsterdam Centraal Station so the location is great. We had a triple room for 3 nights for three people and then a double for 2 nights for 2 people. The triple room was great but the double room was tiny. The bathroom in the double room was new but very badly designed. When you had a shower the whole bathroom got wet including toilet and toilet paper!! There were features that made it a 3 star but in my opinion the room size is also important and the double room was too small.

Very friendly staff. Excellent location. Hotel very clean. The only problem I had with this hotel was the shower. The shower head not clean which is quite dangerous and can lead to spread of infection to those who use it. However the bath was fine and over all we will be going back again.

A perfectly respectable hotel very conveniently located close to the Railway station. It had several quickly functioning lifts. We arrived early but as our room was ready so we were able to check in.The room was clean, apart from a few marks on the carpet, and the bathroom had a deep long bath and a good shower overhead. Despite being on a main street there was no traffic noise and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was adequate although the breakfast room seemed rather crowded whilst I was there.

Good for the price but the room was too small. The hot breakfast buffet was cold every morning.

The hotel is in a great location walking distance to Dam Square, Red light, and Jordann, plus very close to Central station. Tram stop right outside. Funny shaped room, small, however clean and well serviced. Breakfast was also quite good Peter the fellow at the bar was exceptional with advice on where to see jazz and other music, what he didn't know, he went out of his way to find out.

AS others have mentioned, the carpet in my room was awful - badly stained, and although I think it was clean i.e vacuumed, I felt uncomfortable walking on it without shoes on. THe power shower was ferocious, but the bathroom was a "wet room", so the whole thing got drenched - I wasn't sure how to deal with it, so used my wet towel to mop it up. The hallway was obviously being refurbished, so it was a mess, and I had to negotiate a (wide) plank with my luggage. No tea making facilities, but I knew that before going. Finally, the pillows were the worst I have ever had the misfortune to sleep on. Aprt from these niggles, I would be happy to stay again, but hope they might address these comments before I do.

The hotel provided a good level of accommodation at a very reasonable rate. The facilities were good and the staff friendly and willing to help with any enquiry.

For the price, this hotel is fantastic for a night or two in Amsterdam! The rooms are large and the location is perfect. Very impressed.

This hotel is in a good location, only 5 minutes walk from the Central station and near lots of shops and restaurants. We stayed in a triple room and it was really clean and spacious. The breakfast is great and the hotel was fine with us leaving our bags in a room until we caught our flight. As the hotel is on a main road there is noise from the tram and street etc but it didn't keep us awake at night. Would definitely reccommend getting the 'I am amsterdam' card. Go and see Boom Chicago comedy show and have a free cocktail at Bols Coctail Museum.
