The memory of the Hotel AVIZ and its equally acclaimed Restaurant frequented from 1930s to 1960s by such famous personalities as Maria Callas, Frank Sinatra, Ava Gardner, Amália Rodrigues and Calouste Gulbenkian, who made it his home during 13 years, can now be retraced. The Hotel AVIZ is now in more recent building but the concept, the timeless style and hospitality, together with some of its original and priceless pieces of art have all been maintained.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, great breakfast. The location is also good, just enough off the beaten track to ensure a quiet night's rest, but a 15 minute walk to the bustling city center. Would definitely recommend this hotel and will probably book there again for our next trip to Lisbon.
Easy access to Metro
Small, unpretentious hotel with good access to the city centre. Friendly service and very good room quality.
A good, elegantly furnished hotel situated in a quiet street close to Avenida da Liberdade, and within walking distance of Barro Alto and Rossio. Our room was quiet and comfortable. Staff were efficient but not very friendly. Breakfast was a hot and cold buffet with good choice of egg and bacon, cold meats and cheeses, fruit and pastries.
This is a nice, classy hotel. Rooms are small, but comfortable enough for two people. Only complaint is the bathroom. The shower curtains were too closely hung and made showering very awkward, the curtain would often cling to your body.
Modern rooms, although with very few electrical points. Standard rooms very small, so superior room recommended. Free internet cable connection in the room. Quit high price for the room offered. Central location at Marques de Pombal square.
No room service or Wi-Fi.
Everything about this hotel was PERFECT. The staff, helpful and friendly; the rooms very clean, comfortable and well appointed; the location ideal for seeing the best of Lisbon; and the price far more than reasonable. We will certainly stay there again.
Outstanding hotel in almost every regard. Great service. Excellent location. Newly renovated. Nice facilites and amenities. Wonderfully delicious breakfast. Very comfortable beds. Large rooms. Luxurious bathroom. Historic hotel -- the Queen of Portugal, Eva Peron, Frank Sinatra, and many other famous people stayed here. Still a decent value for all that you get. Only minor negatives are: no free internet, and we could smell smoke coming from the room next door -- even with our room door closed. We had a no smoking room and hoped all rooms on this floor would also be no smoking, but this was not the case.
Good quality and offer concerning food. The personel is very warm helpful and smart
It was a real pleasure to stay at the Aviz. Very comfortable, clean, excellent breakfast. Only sad point is the bar/entrance hall is a bit small. I'd certainly recommend this hotel.
I was very happy with my stay apart from the fact that I asked for a quiet room and was given one opposite a building site (works started before 7am every day).
Very nice new hotel. Walkable distance to the old town (15 minutes) and next to a metro stop and taxi stand. In a quite street. Breakfast buffet very good. Friendly service. No business center facility.
An excellent hotel in an excellent location. Would definately use this hotel again.
Clean and comfortable, good location: the metro is around the corner. It's not in the centre of the bustle which promises a good night's sleep. Air-conditioned, spacious marble bathrooms and beautiful wooden floors in the rooms. Speaks to perhaps a slightly older clientele, or comfort creatures. I rate it highly.
The hotel is located ten minutes walking from Praca Rossio and the Chiada area. The aerobus stops at Marques do Pombal, four minutes from the hotel.
