"A good, elegantly furnished hotel situated in a quiet street close to Avenida da Liberdade, and within walking distance of Barro Alto and Rossio. Our room was quiet and comfortable. Staff were efficient but not very friendly. Breakfast was a hot and cold buffet with good choice of egg and bacon, cold meats and cheeses, fruit and pastries. " - Anita Hedges

Hotel description:    The memory of the Hotel AVIZ and its equally acclaimed Restaurant
frequented from 1930s to 1960s by such famous personalities as
Maria Callas, Frank Sinatra, Ava Gardner, Amália Rodrigues and
Calouste Gulbenkian, who made it his home during 13 years, can
now be retraced.
The Hotel AVIZ is now in more recent building but the concept, the
timeless style and hospitality, together with some of its original and
priceless pieces of art have all been maintained.
