Balmes Hotel Barcelona

It was in a perfect location! There is a great tapas restaraunt and Indian food restaurant close to the hotel. It is walking distance to many of the popular sites and shopping.

Pretty much everything was great about this hotel. At the price point, I doubt there's much in Barcelona that can beat it. The pool and back garden area were very nice, but the jacuzzi was barely above luke-warm and the sauna did not work well. The only other problem was that they charged for extra towels. What is that about? The room itself was very clean and normal size. Not huge by any means, but for a 3-star, its about par for the course. The beds aren't the most comfortable, but not bad by any means. The staff is what made the stay for me. They were extremely friendly and always willing to help. Definitely would stay there again just for that reason.

This is a fantastic hotel. Stayed there for four nights and was very happy. The price was very reasonable and the room was far larger than I was expecting - "standard double" came with a table and two chairs, massive desk and three piece sofa! Location couldn't have been more convenient. Two gripes: Firstly, the room was always, always far too hot. To be fair I didn't complain about this at the time, but the a/c was hopeless and in any case doesn't stay on when you go out of the room. Secondly, we asked for a double and got two singles pushed together. This seems to happen a lot in Spain and France, but is incredibly irritating nonetheless. Will be going back though, and recommending to friends.

Second stay here...very relaxing, especially by the pool. Definately recommended.

Superb have stayed there 3 times now!

This is a lovely hotel. The only thing to note was the fact that you couldn't see what the weather was like through the window as you couldn't see the sky.

The rooms are small.

This is a relatively small hotel in a good and quiet location in the Exaimple area of the city. Room was very clean and utilitarian; maybe a little small. I had no problems staying here and feel that the three stars is about right.

A nice and cosy hotel, fairly close to Rambla. The staff were really friendly and polite. We would definitely go back.

The staff were very friendly and could not be faulted. It was our first visit to Barcelona, but we will be returning and definately stay here again.

Location for the city centre is excellent, a better than average 3* hotel. Good buffet breakfast running through to 1030am items of food replenished quickly when they run low. Generally very efficient service, friendly and helpful staff. Last stayed there in 1997 and overall has improved. Nice little swimming pool and rear patio bar area.

Very contemporary and professional. Great staff. Very much a "business" hotel in style, but good for vacationers as well. Certainly great for the price I paid. Would definitely stay there again if in Barcelona. Location is good too. Within walking distance to Sagrada Familia and La Rambla as.

Very pleasant staff and very helpful. I enjoyed everything about Barcelona and the hotel was so nice for the price that I would return there for sure if I ever visit again.

Very nice, but staff could be more helpful on arrival, mabye offer a map of the city & tell you what bus to take to the city etc.....

Quiet location about 15-20 minutes walk from centre of town depending on how many shops and cafe's you visit on the way and there are loads of top quality, keenly priced ones. Having said that you are only two minutes from top end of main shopping area. Very friendly and helpfull staff, superb value for money. Would have no hesitation in recomending them.

Despite the room being quite small, everything was very clean and well presented. The staff were extremely helpful (even lent us towels for the beach) and breakfast was excellent. All in all good value for money and a good base.
