Getting there:International airport: Once through the Customs area, you can turn either left or right. To the left is marked Tours & Groups, this will take you to the bus staging, shuttle and taxi ranks areas outside the glass doors of the building. The Airbus is on the extreme right, past the taxi rank. An Airbus leaves every 20 min. [5:00am - 10pm] from there and this is the cheapest ride into Auckland. They will drop you at our door. Driving to Base Auckland: Head to Queen Street, this is the main street of Auckland and is marked on every map. Driving down Queen Street, turn left onto Darby Street. This is a smaller street between Victoria and Wellesley Street. You'll see our doorway 5 metres down Darby St, and there is a car park 20 metres further down Darby Street.

Car parking:See us at reception for some great deals on secure parking- $22 for 24 hour parking or $9 for overnight parking (from 6pm to 10am). The car park is just around the corner from Base Auckland. Parking in Auckland city is free from 6pm to 8am each day.

A two night stay and pleasant enough. Some noise but it was over Friday and Saturday nights. Helpful when I asked for towels which I had not realised were not included.
A cool little place to hang out - lots of facilities and nice vibe.
We were very dissappointed on the cleanliness. We were in a double unit. Bed cover was dirty, shower wasn't clean, floor wasn't clean, otherwise it was a good place to stay - a little noisy but it was after all Friday night.
great location but that's about all there is to it.

Base Auckland Central Backpackers is a well organised quality backpackers accomodation. I found the staff to be exceptionally helpful beyond the call of duty. The premises is clean, very tidy, and spacious. The cleaning ladies and house keeping staff were especially friendly and I think their standard of workmanship is outstanding. The showers were difficult to operate and quite small, and the heating was a bit too warm for me, especially on the third floor office area. I got very little sleep because of the airing unit and the refrigerator turning off and on during the night, and the street noise down below. However, overall, I think this is an upmarket establishment for a backpackers, and one which I would not hesitate to stay at again. Its very central location suited my needs perfectly as well.
We were amazed at our recent stay at ACB, it was outstanding right down to The Barstaff and Bouncers, the fact that we got free alcohol on the first night and then free pizza on the second it enticed us to spend more there, but it was fantastic def recommend to all our friends. We are hostel professionals also having done a 5 year OE and had complete nightmare experiences this def rates in the top 5! Well done! everyone there was great!!!! Pitty bout the balcony bar being closed but was crappy weather... wouldnt a been much fun! Tahnks to all the staff there for thie efforts made our stay unforgettable!!!!
Very conveniently located and reasonably priced.
In the area of cleanliness, I only gave average as the outside cover on the bed was stained. Rest of room and hotel appeared clean. Most staff were very helpful and friendly.
My room was very noisy from the traffic below, I think shelves or hooks in the showers would be great. But great location, nice people.
The bed linen was very dirty. When I complained I was told that I was not the first to have this problem. I was offerred no discount or any tangible thing that may have eased the pain of trying to cope for 2 nights in dirty linen. Very dirty linen. I went to shop in queen St. and purchased 2 new pillow slips to assist with tolerating the burden. The facilities were very average.
We found Auckland Central Backpackers to be a money making backpackers. Not only is it very expensive, but you have to pay for the internet through a company called Global Gossip who are an expensive telecommunications company. Staff were sometimes nice, but often indifferent and not overly helpful (those working during the day). Cheack in is terrible, long queues and you can't check in before 1pm. Our room was very bad also, there was no window and very small. Showers were not cleaned all the time also. Kitchen is the best facility they have. We wouldn't use this hostel again even though it has a great location.
Great inner-city location, couldn't fault the price, and so easy to come and go, but... *They wouldn't let me check in 10 minutes early *Communal bathrooms were a bit run-down and smelly *My room was windowless
Nice convenient downtown location. No complaints, served our purposed exactly.
Overall our stay was acceptable but an extra blanket requested wasn't delivered as promised...also We found we were stuck in a lift for approx 10 minutes, and no-one responded to the lift alarm. We would happily stay there again though.
V basic room, but enough to lay your head for the night. Air conditioning/heating units a bit noisy. Good facilities on the dorstep of the main st though.
This was the most convenient hostel I have ever stayed. Cool ;) I will stay there again, when I have a chance to go to Auckland.
The staff are fantastic warm and helpful well above the normal. I will be letting more of my friends know about what an awesome place to crash out. see you guys in late june cheers
