"What a lot of sound at night! Much too loud. I did not know I booked a room in the middle of a bar or disco....... The double room was ok but very dark. The window could not be opened so I had to leave the door open at night (to get fresh air) what means it is less safe. The rest was fine, it was a nice big room. thanks!" - Anonymous

"Basically good value for money, very kind and helpful staff, very good location (do not miss thermal park across the street). The Lava bar nearby is really loud and for younger people. Fortunately I have brought a pair of earplugs with me and problem was solved. Otherwise for those not participating in Lava overnights sleeping would be a complicated thing. " - Anonymous

To and from the airport:
The public transport bus ‘City ride’ departs every half-hour between 6.40am and 5.45pm, and only costs $220pp. It's a 5 minute walk to Base Backpackers from the drop off point.

Super Shuttle:
The Super Shuttle service ranges in price depending on how many people in the group from $17 for one person to $20 for a group of 3 – and you will get dropped off right at our front door!

Driving to Base Rotorua:
When leaving Auckland get onto the Southern Motorway (SH1) heading towards Hamilton – then follow the signs! When you get to Tirau get onto the Geothermal Highway SH5. Follow the signs into the city centre, as you enter the CBD, Base Backpackers Rotorua will be the first hostel you see - on the corner of Arawa and Ranolf Streets, we are right opposite Kuirau Geothermal Park.

Backpacker buses:
Just Tell the Bus Driver that you’re staying at Base Backpackers Rotorua and they will drop you off at the door.
