Getting there:From Melbourne’s International Airport: A taxi costs about $60. If you arrive between 6:15am & 20:30 Mon-Fri or 7:05 to 19:00 Sat-Sun, catch the Frankston & Peninsular Shuttle which will drop you off @ our door for $18 per person or $30 for 2! The bus leaves from the International Terminal, look for a green & white Minibus. Outside these times then we suggest catching the SkyBus. SkyBus runs 24/7 and will drop you off at Southern Cross Station. From Southern Cross Station Catch the number 96 St Kilda Beach Tram (runs from 5:30am). The journey will take about 15 minutes. Get off at Luna park/Macdonalds stop and walk away from the direction of the beach down Carlisle Street. It you arrive before the tram starts then catch a taxi, it will cost you around $15. From Avalon Airport Catch the Sunbus (there is one bus that meets every flight). The cost is $16. The bus will drop you off at Southern Cross Station. Follow directions as above from the Station.
Check-in Procedure:A valid passport or drivers licence is required. Each guest is required to pay a $10 cash key deposit.
Car parking:Limited secure undercover car parking is available for $10 per night.

If you like party hostels, this is the one for you. A bit loud at times, but I had some bloody awesome roommates so it made my experience much more worthwhile. Good service, very nice staff, and overall I had quite an experience!
Cheap and efficient. Not suitable for those looking for pin drop silence as it doubles up as a night club.

This place was great to stay in; but there were a few annoying issues - they ran out of clean towels on the Saturday, they ran out of conditioner the whole weekend, the alarm clock they gave me didn't work properly, and the pillows are very low. But really, these were just minor issues and for the price this is a great place to stay in St Kilda.

Excellent for those who will be walking or catching public transport. Close to all entertainment and CBD. Friendly and helpful staff make you feel welcomed. Plus special offers like $6 breakfast buffet, $6 pasta night, girls night, quiz nights and live music.

If you're looking for a quiet place to rest, this is not for you. Base is non stop fun with friendly staff, fun activities and a bar that is lively all through the night. Definitely one of the most clean backpackers I've stayed at, cleaner than most hotels in fact. The security is fantastic and there is loads of information about what''s happening in Melbourne and all over the world. Top that off with state of the art internet access and a travel agency, you can't go past Base.
Wear earplugs if you want some sleep with the bar downstairs. Bathroom was a bit grubby. Good central place to stay.
