"Location in the middle of the city is very convenient to restaurants, shops, transport etc, however it was very quiet and pleasant. The building is historically important as it is the place where the first meeting was held to establish the city of Melbourne. It has high ceilings and lovely proportions and fixtures. Our room was clean and comfortable - some may think it basic however it was all that we were looking for. An ensuite to every room is wonderful for a budget hotel. As there is no air-conditioning a fan in each room would seem to be necessary in summer - one was provided for us on request. The staff was outstanding both in service and friendliness. We'd stay there again in a heart-beat. Thanks Jon and Naomi!" - Gai Berzins
"Originally booked this hotel for 4 nights. At arrival there was no reception so we needed to go to the public bar where we asked the bar maid who found out booking. The bar is best described as a younger punk style enviorment. On obtaining the key we had trouble entering the establishment and eventually were let in by another person who was leaving the building. Our room was clean but would be best described as back packer accommodation as were the activities that went on all night long and as our room did not have a latch my wife was concerned that we could have been broken into. So in summary if you are looking for back packer level of accommodation this hotel will suit." - Anonymous
