A wonderful place, excellent staff, nicely appointed rooms, excellent pool and beach
Was delighted with the service, everyone was so friendly. It is our first time there, and the service is superb. They even recommend places to go around Penang. The hotel is located at the most prominent place along Bukit Feringgi. Just 2 minutes walk to the beach, the night market is along the stretch of street just outside the hotel. Bayview is just next to Hard Rock Hotel. We really enjoy our stay there and will definitely coming back for more.
We stayed at the Bayview mid Dec and can highly recommend it. We arrived in Penang early AM after an O/N Bus from KL, we had b/fast and went to the Hotel at around 8AM and were greeted and checked into a smoking area although we had requested a non smoking area, but that was all that was available at that time of the morning. I was told I could change the room to a non smoking the next morning but did not. Very accommodating, no ifs and buts like some big Hotels I have stayed at who would not let you checkin until 2PM.. I really enjoyed the resort, staff and food. The Fantasy restaurant on the way to the night market is a dinning pleasure and the food is just delicious. Don't take a day trip to Langkawi Island its a con, they advertise everywhere that it takes 21/2 Hours, well it took over 3Hours & 20 mins to get there with flat seas, and nearly 4 hours to get back and you have to leave at 5PM to return to Penang so not much time on the Island.
Not an expensive hotel to stay in if you are on a short holiday. It is close to most of the amenities.Penang's tourist attractions are mostly located in this belt and they are within reach by bus. You can enjoy a lazy afternoon by the poolside with a good body message. The price is resonable. The beach is picturesque and you can enjoy the water sports right outside Bayview hotel.
Great place to stay walking distance to night markets, Ferringhi Garden Restaurant in main street was EXCELLENT!! The pool bar service at hotel was very bad (non existant) and unfriendly. the rest of the staff were excellant.
It would be beneficial to know the expected clientel at each season as we arrived in the midst of Saudi Arabias peak holiday season and therefore the resort was only catering for their needs which resulted in us abiding by dietry, entertainment etc of this culture. Also the staff were harrased and over worked by the demands and therefore we did not enjoy our stay.
This is a huge hotel, right on the beach, with underused potential. It needs a modern makeover to bring it up to standards with other hotels in the area. Hotel management is apathetic, and seems more concerned with themselves than with guests. Some small examples: Happy Hour in the pool bar runs from 5 - 7pm, but they shut down the bar at 6:30. There is no facility to get ice cubes for your room, and if you request some, they charge money for it. Internet is extremely slow and very expensive. [website] recommends this hotel, but I sure don't.
We stayed for a long weekend, nice hotel. A bit far from the city. Good to relax and do some sport activities.
Very nice pool area, but the beach is not the nices I have seen. Is at the end of the "town", so there is a little walk to the nightmarked and resturants.
beautiful resort, luxury +++, no hesitaion in recommending this resort, will enjoy re-visiting in the future
Our second visit to the Bayview and both times have been enjoyable. Even though it was over the New Year period, the hotel did not appear crowded (100% occupancy according to the hotel staff), which was good. The family rooms are spacious and good value for money when compared to booking two separate rooms (2 Adults and 2 Children).
We had a lovely time in this resort, the food was great, the laundry and money changer across the road was also very handy. The night markets were also great!
Fantastic!
Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights, Aug. 2008, very good location, bit of a walk to main area of resort but not too bad. Hotel facilities very good reasonably priced drinks etc. Standard of food good with loads of choice. We had a family room sleeping 4, nice large size with loads of room to move about and plenty of storage. Would stay there again.
Enjoyed a hassle free check-in upon arrival and was even more impressed by the friendliness of the hotel staffs who attended to us. I would definitely recommend this hotel and your website to my friends who are intneding to make future reservations! Thanks a million for the great vacation!
This hotel is the preferred beach hotel for my family. My kids love the swimming pool there....the breakfast is great!
This place is heaven on earth! It is a luxury hotel at budget prices. They have EVERYTHING here, and the staff bend over backwards to make sure you are accomodated. The Kids Club is huge, the largest I've seen on Penang, and really fun. The free breakfast is elaborate with eggs cooked to order, American selections, fruit, fresh baked goods, Malaysian favorites and everything you want! This place is beachfront with inexpensive massage at your lounge chair, sunken bar with happy hour, many restaurants with great food, 24 hr room service, wireless internet, business center, beautiful gardens and an awesome pool. We literally DROVE AROUND looking for decent accomodations after our 1st place wasn't good, and this was the very best hotel in Batu Ferringhi. We met many people who vacation here a few times a year, and it's no mystery as to why. It is an EXCELLENT place to stay!
The hotel is a looking quite old / tired and could do with a renovation. Rooms are very large, but sparse and basic. The hotel next door is being renovated and there is considerable noise from there, although this did not bother us too much. The beach front is not pleasant (but you don't go to the Penang for a good beach). Breakfast is very good - surprisingly so. The tourist desk has very little information and doesn't help very much with queries. Other than that its fine.
Location-wise, the hotel is at the far end of Batu Feringgi. It is a 15-min walk to the night market but beware that there are quite a number of wild dogs wondering around along the way and sometimes barking to people walking along (I've heard some ladies screaming...). To be fair, if all you want for your stay is sun and pool (I would advise against going to the beach - it is only a small strip of sand and the water is dirty) then the hotel is OK. If you would like to shop and go to other tourist attractions in Penang, I would suggest hotels in Georgetown area. From Batu Feringgi it takes an hour by bus to Georgetown for RM2 or you will need to pay the hotel for over-priced car transfer. The hotel does provide shuttle service to Georgetown but it is not frequent at all (3 a day) and at not very practical time.
My wife and I stayed at the Bayview for 4 nights in Feb 2008. We found the hotel to be nice and clean, the deluxe sideview room was large and bathroom was also very spacious with separate shower cubicle. The staff were friendly and polite. The hotel has a wonderful swimming pool with jacuzzi and lovely garden area around the pool. The beach is right on the doorstep. We enjoyed our peaceful stay at the hotel and would highly recommend it. The only slight downside is the location. It's a good 10 minute walk before the shops and restaurants start and in my opinion, the hotel deco looks a little tired and can do with some modernisation. Very good value for money specially when you take into consideration the huge buffet breakfast that is laid out.
