This hotel is located at city center. The buffet breakfast was well worth the price with both western and local food options. It was easy to walk to a lot of the attractions. Those that I couldn't walk to from my hotel were easy to get to from a bus that you can catch near the hotel.
Nice clean hotel right next to bell tower. Short walk to drum tower and market area. Lots of bus stops nearby to take you to the other tourist sites. Only gripe is that the staff were not friendly and internet is a rip off in the business center but these are minor things. I would stay there again.
26 SQ meters, Free internet access, Bell Tower view.
All taxes and service charge, free internet use, 2 bottles of drinking water per day.
All considered it was a pleasant staying. It is rated as 4star hotel. This could be true with Chinese standards, not with European ones (max3 stars). Little trouble with air conditioning not working, it took us 4 calls to have it working. Anyway the staff is friendly, correct and with a good English. The breakfast was not included in the room rate (120RMB per couple) but it was money well spent because outside the hotel we did not enjoy local food as much as in other places in China.
This hotel was very well located and is within walking distance of many tourist attractions. The room was very large and comfortable. We had a great view of the Bell Tower but the room was quiet in spite of the heavy traffic. We would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Xi'an. Breakfast was not included with our booking, but the breakfast buffet was not to expensive and was delicious.
Nice hotel, in the very center of Xi'an, close to main attractions. My carpet was perfectly clean (in reply to other comments I read before). Small details, however, make of this hotel a 4 and not 5 Stars one (dust here and there, an old lamp, etc.) Main desk service a bit 'cold' in treatment, but efficient. I would definitely repeat the experience.
We have just returned from our China experience. The bell Tower Hotel is in a great location. Check in was a little slow and our booking was confused as we had 2 rooms booked. Breakfast was very reasonable - good variety on the buffet it was 50 RMB per person for Hotel guests with a 15% surcharge on top of that. We had a problem however with mould in the bathroom (shower, tiles, soap dish and shower curtain) we requested it to be cleaned which was not successful. Some of the Hotel staff have extremely limited English and find it difficult to assist you. Traffic in XiAn is busy but manageable.
Great location, right next to the Bell Tower, short walk from the Drum Tower and the Great Mosque, and markets at night time. Airport Bus drops you off a couple minutes down the road. Beautiful rooms and English well spoken by staff. Concierge very helpful.
We were upgraded to a suite. So, the room is better than the regular.
Very good location, right opposite belltower and across from mall and just dowjn the road from the drum tower,. English is spoken at abou 80% level, so all good, can convese with staff
Location is wonderful if you can deal with light and noise all through the night -- which we loved. It is a little rundown and crowded but because of the location, we loved it.
The Location is fantastic - we were lucky enough to get a room over looking the Bell tower - it made our stay!
Excellent location, easy to get to from the airport as bus stops right out front. Only complaint was shower took a long time to heat up and there wasnt much pressure.
We booked 2 rooms in this hotel. One room was nice and nothing to complain. The bathroom from the other room was very old, moisture around the bath (due to humidity) and the smell from the room was bad. The hotel is very nicely situated and the staff friendly.
Hotel is ok, but location is great. I think it's good value (I paid under 50 euro per night)
More tourist info at reception or concierge would be helpful - a brochure stand or similar. My deluxe room was big and very good value. It overlooked the Bell Tower and main traffic roundabout, however the traffic noise was not a problem with the windows closed. Beverage service requires more training - red wine was served chilled and beer was served warm.
Phenomenal location . Room was very clean though as with most hotels in China hallways, carpets, could use some attention. Staff English was adequate. I screwed up on my booking dates and arrived at the airport a day early (during the National week holiday no less) and they accommodated me with another night in our room - NO PROBLEM without jacking up the price- which they could very easily have done due to the huge # of local tourists and lack of rooms avaiable. Loved the hotel though I thought Xi'an in general, highly overrated as a destination in China. Without the equally over rated terracotta warriors there, all I see is a sadly westernized fairly modern Chinese city, with lots to do, if what you want to do, is be a consumer.....
Positive Excellent location - could not be better for Xi'an. The staff were extremely helpful in solving the problems caused by our booking details and pre-payment not having been send by the time we arrived. They were also good had explaining how to get to places in the city and helping use get a tour and taxis. The buffet meals are excellent, though perhaps a little on the expensive side. As I l have lived in China for five years, I should be used to it by now, but I still find the beds in Chinese hotels incredibly hard. Surely they could buy some softer mattresses for foreign guests. I guess it is a function of age - I am in my 60s, but I found the bedroom lighting inadequate for easy reading in the evening.
The strength of the Bell Tower Hotel lies in its location. Its situated just opposite the Bell Tower (a remarkable structure in the middle of a busy intersection)and adjacent to teh Drum Tower, walking distance from the city Wall (an ancient 14km wall that encircles the city and which you can bike on, by the way), and a short stroll from the Great Mosque and its associated shopping area. There's also a 24 hr McDonalds just accross the road in case you get desperate for some fries. The concierge is great and can book guides and vans for you in case you'd like to go exploring (I highly recommend hiking the Huashan mountain - about two hours outside Xi'an). The problem with the Bell Tower is in the size of the rooms. They are comparatively small and a bit cramped. The beds are narrow and pretty hard. Otherwise, a decent place to stay.
The rooms were spacious, the air conditioning worked well and the view facing the Bell Tower was spectacular. However, there was essentially no drawer space for unpacking.
We had a wonderful view of the Bell Tower. The street noise was ok, we could sleep very well. I think the windows were double glazed windows. The buffet in the morning (we just ordered breakfast) was also great...a wide choice of food...fruits, cereal, cornflakes, different kinds of bread, cheese, sausage, eggs...
