Getting there:By bus - Take the Met Bus Sunshine 220 from Queen street, Melbourne every 15 minutes, get off at stop 33. Taxi from Tullamarine Airport - pre arrange your trip to Ashley Gardens by phoning ahead. By Car From Westgate Freeway - exit at Williamston Road. Turn right and travel 2.7km over Princess(Geelong Road) turn left into Sunshine Road. Travel 1.8km and then turn right into Ashley Street at traffic lights. We are 1.8km on left. Other Freeways by car - transfer onto Western Ring Road. Exit at Ballarat Road. Travel towards city 6.5km. Turn right into Ashley Street traffic lights. From Geelong - Turn left onto Western Ring Road. Travel 8km. Turn right onto Ballarat Road. Proceed as per instructions for "other Freeways". From Tasmanian Ferry terminal follow signs to Westgate Freeway and proceed as above.

i booked at the big 4 because i have a child and love the people that normally stay at camp grounds but was a little disapointed at the room for the price. not what the picture shows!! but seeing that its only 10 mins away from the city centre i guess i cant conplane.
Overall a great experience close to shops and major shopping Centres.

Big 4 Melbourne Ashley Gardens. Cabin 102. This was a very comfortable place although it needed some repairs. The toilet didn't work properly and there was a light fitting about to fall out of the ceiling and a stove that was damaged by being put in the wrong sized opening. Making toast set off the smoke detector. Being an isolated cabin, it got very cold at night, but we found a heater and warmed up the bedroom. The living room has a heater and air conditioner. It is a holiday place, too, so we had kids bouncing balls. Noise levels from traffic were very low. It had a good BBQ (free) and Internet and laundry (not free). We enjoyed it. It was a fun place to stay. The staff were great. It is out in the suburbs and about a 20 minute drive to the city.

In one word - Excellent! This facility is a combination campground and cabin establishment. The cabins are modern, clean and contain everything you need. There are a variety of cabins, we stayed in a 1 bedroom unit. The facilities are exactly as advertised, including the pictures. Ashley Gardens is located halfway between the airport and the downtown core of melbourne. A shopping center is only a two minute walk away and had everything we needed. We took a city bus directly in front of the hotel that brought us directly downtown (30 minute commute). The most impressive feature of the Ashley Gardens was the staff. Friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. They booked our taxi to the airport, explained the local area, the local bus system and had a map for just about anywhere.
Great little unit. Friendly servise. Will definately visit here again.
