This is the fifth time I have stopped at the Great Barr Hotel and I find that this hotel offers excellent value for money. The room was clean and warm, considering the weather outside and a hearty breakfast waits you in the morning. Will definitely be going back again
Booking which we made through Rates to go wasnt in hotels system and as a result we received room which was much too small for our family. Room was very cold, needed some bathroom maintains and was very noisy.
This was a great hotel, friendly clean generous , breakfast all in the price, highly recommended
On arrival I received a freindly welcome, however this did not last. The room was in need of decoration and repair, the sliding ensuite door was falling off its brackets, lights did not work, floor seperators bent, TV had bad reception on all channels and did not receive all the channels advertised. The heating was not on on arrival so the room was not warm until 8pm. I telephoned for room service for dinner and was informed that chef was not doing room service that evening, I had to plead with them just to get a sandwich. So much for a cosy night in to watch x factor finals.
On the whole a pleasant stay, marred by the noise during the night. Because the Hotel hosts a number of evening functions with party goers staying the night and coming to bed in the early hours, banging on doors and running up and down corridors led to disturbed nights. On the plus side the full English Breakfast included in the price was very good.
Nice hotel and would stay there again. Staff friendly and breakfast good.
Disabled parking bays all full on 29/11/08 at 1900 (hotel function on) Not one of the cars was displaying a blue badge and this caused considerable problems for myself being disabled. Speed ramps on hotel drive far too high, nearly every car 'grounded' on passing. Hotel itself adequate, staff pleasant. Breakfast recommended.
breakfast excelent, room not huge but all one could ask for.all facilities worked. Staff helpfull and friendly.
A great hotel at very economical rates, clean tidy and staff were helpful and polite, a great place to stay! Would definatley stay there again!
Staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. Would recommend for anyone on a short stay in Brum.
I needed a nice hotel to stay for a business trip. Finding the Great Barr Hotel at such a reasonable price. I was not disappointed. The room was adequate, the staff very helpful and the breakfast excellent. My only less positive comments would be that in this day and age the hotel ought to provide free WIFI and the decor is down market, but these are quite superficial. I will certainly return in the future.
My stay was only for one night, a sunday night. The hotel should provide hot foot between 7.00pm and 9.00pm however, only cut sandwiches were available.
This is a regular hotel location for me now and I have therefore built up a measure of rapport with the staff particularly those associated with the breakfasts. The hotel has a nice ambiance and 'feel' about it.
Reception staff not very welcoming. Room fine (although at the end of a gloomy underground corridor which was being decorated at the time)but bathroom was in need of some modernisation (tiles falling off walls, dingy shower curtain etc). Drinks in the bar incredibly expensive. Fine for the price we paid, but if we had paid full price would have been very disappointed. Good access to NEC alng M6.
the hotel was in a good location for what i wanted .would use again.
The hotel is situated in a very nice area but only a few minutes from the M6. Excellent value for money for single people where you are not paying for a double/twin room for single occupancy. The substantial breakfast certainly prepares you for the day ahead.
The breakfast staff are fantastic - helpful and friendly.
check - in staff needs to smile. The extractor fan in the bathroom was not working, hence lots of condensation. The hotel is lovely, clean, breakfast was fantastic. The staff in the dining area was friendly. Decor of the room is good and the linen white and crips. over all it was a lovely stay
A reasonable 3* hotel, with small, but adequate rooms, a decent breakfast & good car parking in a good location close to the M6 for a very reasonable price - excellent value
I would be perfectly happy to stay here again, it had a freindly atmosphere. and free parking.
