"On arrival I received a freindly welcome, however this did not last. The room was in need of decoration and repair, the sliding ensuite door was falling off its brackets, lights did not work, floor seperators bent, TV had bad reception on all channels and did not receive all the channels advertised. The heating was not on on arrival so the room was not warm until 8pm. I telephoned for room service for dinner and was informed that chef was not doing room service that evening, I had to plead with them just to get a sandwich. Because the Hotel hosts a number of evening functions with party goers staying the night and coming to bed in the early hours,banging on doors and running up and down corridors led to disturbed nights.On the plus side the full English Breakfast included in the price was very good." - Anonymous

Hotel description:    The Birmingham Great Barr Hotel is located just twenty minutes from the centre of Birmingham in the leafy suburb of Great Barr. After a recent 1 million pound refurbishment programme, the Hotel now boasts a fresh, vibrant, contempory building set in beautiful grounds.

Access to the Hotel is easy as both the M6 at Junction 7 and M5 at Junction 1 are both only 1 mile away, making the Hotel the ideal gettaway for visiting friends, sampling the extensive nightlife or even treating yourself to a shopping weekend at the Famous Bullring Shopping Centre, hailed as the new European Shopping Capital.

Walsall town centre is only a five minute drive with Sutton easily accessable by car for a ten minute drive.

The Hotel has 105 guest rooms all en suite with both bath and shower, trouser press, tea/coffee tray, hairdryer, in room movies, playstation games, internet access via the television, and many rooms have the added bonus of views overlooking our extensive peaceful gardens. There is also free car parking for up to 200 cars.

The Hotel offers the Oak Bar serving a range of beers and fine wines and also the Palm Restaurant with a tempting menu of British and International cuisine, both are popular with residents and locals alike.

The Hotel also houses 10 conference and banqueting suites which cater from 2 to 200. The Hotel has a dedicated Events team to cater for any event from Weddings to Trade Shows, to Conferences and Training Days.

Getting there: M5 Jct1 - Take the Walsall/Great Barr Turn off, turn right at the Fire Station and follow the road round past the Old Church. The Hotel is located just before the Malt Shovel Public House on the left hand side.
M6 Jct 7 - Take the Birmingham Turn off, Turn right at the Scott Arms Public House, take the right hand lane and turn right after the Malt Shovel Public House onto Pear Tree Drive. The Hotel is located on the corner here.
From Birmingham City - Take the A34 signposted Walsall/Perry Barr/Great Barr. Follow the road for four miles until you reach the Scott Arms Public House. Turn left here onto the Newton Road. Half way down turn right at the Malt Shovel Public House onto Pear Tree Drive. The Hotel is situated on the corner here.
