Blue Oceanic Beach Hotel Negombo

Average in many respects. Location on the beach is the redeeming point. The booking should include transport to and from airport otherwise to take a taxi from the airport - pay Rupee 1250..(about USD 12) .. but the killer is that the hotel will charge you Rupee 2000 (about USD 18-19) back to the airport.. very expensive for the distance, standard and punctuality of their vehicle.

A typical beach resort hotel. If that's what you're looking for then it's probably teh perfect hotel for you. If you want a bit of sri lankan culture then I'd try somewhere else. Good as a stopover on way to/from airport (this is what i used it for) as only 10-15mins from airport (though no airport noise). Clientel mostly older Germans and Russians and did get quite noisy - don't expect to fit in an afternoon nap! Positives - food was very good and nice range of both local and international dishes

The hotel was OK but it is looking a bit tired needs a refurbishment. Breakfast was adequate but could have been better. When I arrived there was confusion that I had not a reservation even though I had a hotel voucher. This was sorted out in a couple of days and I was given free evening meal. Staff very helpful. I would stay there again

Very conveninent for the airport and a nice place.

My wife and I stayed for two weeks. We normally take a 'warm weather' holiday in Feb/March and look for a moderately priced beach type holiday. The hotel was exactly what we had hoped -and better. The location, right on the edge of the beach, was wonderful. The Hotel has a 3 star rating which is appropriate. Guests should not expect de-luxe rooms with modern fittings/furnishings in the bedrooms etc. However, anyone looking for a mid-priced, casual, relaxing, informal holiday by the beach in a very well managed hotel with super friendly staff need look no further than this hotel. The food was very good and surprisingly imaginative within the confines of buffet style catering. (there is an a la carte option) There are a handfull of good inexpensive restuarants within a 5 minutes walk down the road, however, the cafe/resuarant scene in Negombo is very limited. We will certainly try to stay at the hotel again.

The hotel has its own natural charm and simplicity which sets it apart from its more luxurious neighbours. The beach-front garden is particularly attractive and the balconies all overlook this and the ocean. The service and food is excellent. The room was pleasant and very spacious and the staff delightful. As a solo traveller I was made very welcome and won't hesitate to return.
