Nice hotel , with good rooms, nice location great breakfast view of the dock Great receptionist especially Afsan who was very helpful with small little problems
Stayed 4 nights at the Brittania ,last minute booking for a show at Excel.Location and setting are great. Convenience store across the street to the left, great Pub to the right,3 Brilliant Indian Restaurants on Westferry Road, Cliftons was my fav, great Chicken Dansak for 6 pounds!,5 mins walk,3 mins walk to South Quay DLR stn, more shops,Subway,Tesco etc,10 mins drive to Excel, all good stuff. The hotel has some good points but some annoying issues which could easily be resolved. The entrance looks grand but reminds me of a hotel I once stayed in Bangkok.Lots of brass and wood, fake crown moldings and chintz galore. I am not really sure what theme/look the hotel was going for so it just decided to go with a bit of everything,Edwardian,Victorian mixed with some Asian inspired art and cheap reproduction furniture. The is carried through to the room.Nice size, clean with newer TV,but cheap furnishings and decor,Its all a bit tired but acceptable for the price. My 4 night stay was 30% less than at most other area hotels so acceptable. Negatives are shower has a tendency to go from warm,to hot to luke warm although the water pressure was good.Food was reasonably priced but there are good restaurants within walking distance.Parking was 21 pounds/$36 a day/night which even by London Prices is high. However from 5.30 on Friday thru Monday at 8.30 you can park for FREE on a single yellow line or pay a display.turn left out of the hotel and the road is the third on the right.I saved 63 pounds/$100 by doing this and it paid for some nice meals.I did'nt get to the pool or health club but understood it was quite nice. There is a nominal charge of 5 pounds which seemed fair. The rear of the hotel backs to the dock and would have been lovely to sit out in the summer. The bar was open till very late and very reasonably priced. The hotel was lively and well located ,it could do with a refurbishment but I suppose then they would increase the room prices,Its not the Ritz but great value for a London Hotel I would stay there again.
Great Hotel loved the bar and restaurant hours/food!!
Have stayed there a number of times. really enjoy location and the new docklands development. vert handy for the thames clipper to get to london, also great service from nearby undergrond. Hotel always clean, can appear a bit dated in parts but great value for money.
The rooms were much too hot and after being asked to turn down the heat, nothing was done. I booked this hotel for some very prominate people and we will not stay there again.
The shower was broken, which made the water be either too cold or too hot.
Recommended for when you need to be near Docklands.
Good hotel, perhaps a little tired, but certainly one I will use again for Docklands.
I will not recommend to have a breakfast in this hotel - too expensive (almost 3 times of any pub) and not tasty at all. Otherwise normal hotel. Just based on picture one might think it's modern but it is not, like 70s style hotel.
Would benefit from additional staff in bar late evening.
Is a nice hotel, with a very good breakfast (even though the same since long time-I use to come often because it is close to my workplace). The really bad thing is the service personnel who starts knocking and bursting into the door each time too early; for instance during last week they started knocking&bursting in the room as soon as 7.30h in the morning, and the last morning did it three times until 8.00h. The reception and gym stuff are very friendly.
This hotel is a bit tired now in need in major refurbishment. The staff do their best with the materials they have.
Like too many British hotels, the beds had a solid board support surface rather than box springs making for a very stiff bed during the night and a very stiff me during the folowing day.
The hotel is a bit dated in decor. However, it is clean, and the service was satisfactory.
It is a good choice!
Booked a twin non-smoking room, got double smoking room where the window could not be opened. After long discussions with reception, I was finally given a non-smoking room, but still no twin room as booked. Otherwise happy with the hotel, nice view and good breakfast.
The breakfast buffet was really good. The location not so good, in the docklands, far from city, but we took the boat to the city instead of the tube, it was faster and funnier. Big nice rooms, and high standard even in the bathrooms!
Nice hotel, good breakfast, nice views, a couple of blocks to the underground, but not to bad.
Fantastic hotel just need a few more powerpoints in bedroom :) for the business travellers :)
Fantastic hotel! had everything you expect from such a lovely hotel! professional friendly and nothing to fault it at all! Could do with another two powerpoints in bedroom everything else was spot on :) I will be going back :)
