The Red Lion Hotel is an historical Grade 1 listed building (c1465) located in the town centre of historic Colchester. The hotel is one of the oldest inns in East Anglia and has been described as 'a fine example of Tudor England'. The old Banqueting Hall, which is now the Parliament Restaurant, has a remarkable beamed ceiling. Some bedrooms are furnished with antiques and have a wealth of original exposed beams and wattle and daub walls. This Colchester hotel is located in the town centre and there are numerous shops nearby including well known chain stores and smaller, boutique-style shops. The hotel provides a retreat from the modern world outside, and the Tudor features and warm red and gold fabrics within the public areas are very relaxing. Colchester is Britain's oldest recorded town and was its first Roman capital. Today it is a thriving centre full of attractions for residents, visitors and businesses. It has a unique place in Britain's history, and is set for an exciting future.

Very good hotel, in the city centre of Colchester. Friendly staff, very helpful. Highy recommended !
Very very happy with everything about this hotel!
The window in room 3 does not close properly and the noise from the high street is very apparent. Otherwise good. Thanks
The hotel in general was very nice and the staff were very polite and attentive. The only complante is the thinness of the walls. I stayed in room 4 and had to listern to the couple in room 3 at it all night. There was very little sleep in either room that saturday night.
there is no parking available for this hotel, i had to pay 12.90 for parking, the hotel should negoiate with ncp a better rate for their residents.
