superb location right on the beach front. the food is very high standard and the restaurant service is good. the room cleaning is less than reliable. the hotel, surprisingly, has no computer and check out was a slow business. generally Browns is very friendly and welcoming.
The hotel was very good but lacked certain facilities. The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming, they went out of their way to be helpful. The food was good and enjoyable especially the buffet lunches and dinner. My only negative comment was the rooms although very clean were in need of redecoration and in some cases restoration. TV in each room would have helped to keep a breast of current affairs.
OK. The beach is about 500 metres from the actual hotel - and the hawkers wait on the hotel boundary for you. They obviously have restricted access to the guests and do not hassle you too much. The pool is off to the side and seemed quite clean- but we didn't use it. No real complaints, however, we might have been more impressed if we hadn't stayed in more plush accomodation during our tour.
I stayed here for 3 days in Dec 07. The setting was very nice with the room overlooking the Indian Ocean from the balcony. The hotel room wasn't the cleanest though. The towels and bed linen had seen better days. There was no Tv in the room and although this didn't really bother me I'm sure it would effect some people. The hotel had a buffet for breakfast, lunch & dinner. I thought the food was very good although maybe a little over priced for Sri Lanka. There was 1 bar on the site which did have air con & a TV! But there was no entertainment provided by the hotel which made the nights seem a little bit too long!. There was a large outdoor swimming pool and masssage treatments available. Overall the hotel is in a good location for the airport but I wouldn't want to stay there for too long as there wasnt much to do.
The rooms need updating - bathrooms especially as they felt as though they had been updated last some time ago. The general area of the hotel was good, food was good and the location very good. Excellent Chinese medical massage.
Excellent first night stop after a gruelling flight to Colombo.
