I have stayed in Boston many times and this is by far the best deal. If you just need a place close to everything where you can crash at the end of the night - this is your place. If you plan on spending a lot of time in the hotel - maybe not. Walls were a bit thin, but parking on the street was easy. Lots of great bars and restaurants nearby. A very good deal if that's all you're looking for.
This is a very good hotel in Boston, well located, rooms with good space and best of all, the price. I surely recommend this hotel
Our Standard Queen rooms are elegantly furnished, capturing the old-world charm of Boston. Each room has free high speed internet access, iPod Clock Radio, Cable TV, Mini Fridge, Microwave and other amenities. Rates include continental breakfast.
My room was large and had a great view of Fenway. The hotel location is perfect for visiting my daughter at Boston University. It is in walking distance to shopping on Newbury St and close to the T station.
Great experience! Would definitely stay there again!! A long-time friend and I planned a trip to Boston as a reunion after many years living in different areas. We wanted a reasonably priced hotel, with complimentary breakfast, in a safe and convenient location. We found it in the Hotel Buckminister! The staff was exceedingly kind and attentive. They even loaned us an umbrella on a rainy day! The complimentary breakfast was more than satisfactory with bagels, English muffins, toast (w/butter, jellies, cream cheese, peanut butter, and honey),mini-muffins, pastries, variety of cereals, lots of fresh fruit, orange and grape juice, milk, coffee and tea. They even had flavored creams available for coffee!! Our room was very satisfactory and clean with lots of room - even had a microwave and frig. There was a charming old armoire holding the tv with built-in closets on both sides with full-length mirrors on the doors. Although it showed some bare wood from scuff marks on the bottom edges, you could tell it had been very impressive in earlier years - it was very practical and much appreciated by us. The tv was small - but it was more than ok for us to check weather reports, etc. - we didn't go to Boston to watch tv! We also had a small table with two chairs by large span of windows covered by attractive plantation shutters. We enjoyed sitting there and watching the busy sidewalk traffic below where there were many choices of restaurants and even a couple of convenience stores. We chose to use cabs, but the subway was only about a half block away - very convenient. We felt very safe in this neighborhood and at the hotel. Highly recommend!
Nice hotel conveniently located. Cant get any closer to Fenway Park !
My fiance and I stayed here overnight for a Red Sox game - it was perfect for just that. Great location, about a three-minute walk to Fenway, and plenty of bars along the way to duck into before/after the game. Our room was on the small side - as they usually are in older hotels - and kind of awkwardly-shaped. But for a short visit, it was just fine. Only wish the room and the parking next door was less expensive, but it's probably just b/c the Yankees were in town.... Sushi place downstairs is AMAZING
We went for a Sox game and to visit with friends. Super close to Fenway and lots of good food. We did not want to rent a car so proximity to both was crucial. Travel from the airport was tricky on the train but it saved us a fortune in cabs. The first night the hotel lost power. The third day the elevator was out of order. The rooms are small but clean. Overall it was a great place to stay if youre on a budget.
I was there for one night in transit to join family at a wedding in Worcester. Then, I returned to explore Boston, mostly on my own. The location was great for exploring all of Boston (it's 2 blocks from Fenway Park but the Red Sox were out of town! Next time!). The "T" station was a block away, which can take you just about anywhere in Boston in a few minutes for only two bucks! The staff was very polite and helpful. The continental breakfast was so-so (I'm not big on food give-aways to begin with). They really need to install FREE Wi-Fi. I used a cable I brought with me but it was cumbersome. Also, I was unable to connect with my iPod Touch. I liked the rustic charm. The rooms were clean. The hot water was ok for a shower but not quite hot enough to shave. I believe it was a good value and have already recommended it to my brother (lives in Florida), who has two daughters in two different Boston colleges.
Very close to Fenway which was very convent and the UNO's was right there after the game.
I stayed at the Buckminster because it is walking distance from Fenway Park. But the location was ideal in other ways, too. There were several decent restaurants and a subway terminal in the area. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful and the price was affordable. It was a good choice for all of those reasons.
Nice location. Shame there were no redsox games. Breakfast is simple but free. Just be aware with the additional charge for internet and parking it becomes quite expensive
In an age where La Quinta, Hampton Inn and many other hotels even hostels are offering free wifi, giving 90 minutes (to be used in one block) per 24 hours seems money-grabbing. Josh from Saco, ME was very good at his job behind the desk, helping me find somewhere to stay in my budget when my plans changed and this hotel were full. The elevator was broken when I was at the hotel, but that was just unfortunate.
Just outside the downtown area, but well priced compared to others in Boston. Downtown reached quickly by the nearby subway. Excellent continental breakfast included.
Internet access was quite important to me and so I was disapointed that the "free" internet was based on using a third party's trial service. I felt this was a bit deceptive. The paid service which I ended up using was not very good. However, the hotel rate was excellent and for an old hotel the room I had was remarkably good.
This is an excellent hotel if you are keen to see the Red Sox play - Fenway Park is right across the road. Also only a few stops on the train into the centre of town.
