Quite basic but very clean, probably the friendliest staff we have ever met. Would stay again.
Budapester has seen better days. A large renovation was in the works with door-frames standing everywhere in our "garden". The hotel was OK for the money we paid, but then at 60% discount. Full price would be a disaster. We have NEVER EVER stayed at a more WELL-SMOKED hotel, not even the lowest level hotels in southern Europe ever come close to this. I have no idea how this is even possible. The smoke residuals are so intense you feel your skin wrinkle and probably fall off, your clothes cannot ever be fully decontaminated, your lungs will probably be affected and you will be high on nicotine if you touch a wall. The above description relates to the so called "Bungalow"-rooms. Hopefully, other room types are OK. The lobby is fresh.
Spacious, bright & friendly rooms with modern furniture. 2006 all our rooms have been completely renovated and all rooms are equipped with comfortable high quality mattresses.

If you want access to the St. Pauli district and are willing to walk 1/2 mile to reach its features, this hotel would suit your needs.
Very clean and helpful staff. Excellent value at €49 (breakfast extra €6). Location safe enough, only about 300m to a station and u passby a big supermarket. No shops to look at neary, but a great cheap place to rest up.
The hotel is in the eastside of the centre of Hamburg about 8 minutes walk from the Reeperbahn, very famous for its nightclubs and sexshops. It is not easy to find a place to park your car in the street in front of the hotel, but you can get a free license of the hotel to park your car anywhere else in the neighbourhood of the hotel.
When we were there, the hotel was cleaned daily, the rooms were light and spacious, all with wood flooring. We had an ensuite shower which was immaculate, and I believe all rooms have this. Staff were friendly and helpful. The best aspect of this hotel is the location. It is a short walk to the bohemian area (name forgets me) with all its bars and art shops, but if you fancy something more energetic, the Ripperbahn (spelt wrong) is only an 8 minute walk. The only downside, which didn't impact me, is that one side of the hotel is located near a main road, and can be noisy if you open your window during rush hour. However, it has double glazing and at night you cannot hear a thing. Generally the hotel is great value for what you get and it turned out to be the best aspect of the holiday.
Newly refurbished and very clean! Friendly staff!Great location for a boozy weekend and great price!
I spent 2 nights in Budapester Hof Hamburg in February. The room was warm and spacious and very clean, the hotel was quiet but as my room was on the street side there was a lot of trafic noise. The service was a little unsure - young personel, perhaps students - but friendly. On the second morning there was no hot water available in the shower.
the reception clerk should learn to speak english. breakfast not included even though indicated on the confirmation slip. not very central. good only if you want to go to the redlight district
Service very friendly and courteous. Hard to believe this hotel rates three stars. Recently renovated, but still in throes of repair. Workmanship of renovation not up to normal German standards. Room very sparsely decorated. Good buffet breakfast and plenty of heat and hot water. Location on edge of rougher side of Saint Pauli District.
Clean, servicable and good value for money.
We found this hotel to be friendly, helpful and fun. It's located within walking distance of the main harbour terminal and many other key tourist spots.
This hotel is going through a refurbishment at the moment. The hotel location is within walking distance to the nightlife area and is in safe area.
Fifteen of us went on a a stag weekend to Hamburg and this hotel was perfect for us, very quiet as well
The location is the best selling feature of this hotel, extremely close to the "Ripper Baun". The hotel looks about 70 percent refinished and left as such. One thing to watch is that they take cash only, and hand write receipts.
