Right by Four Mile Beach in an idyllic location, yet still on the main street (Macrossan Street) with the shops and restaurants just 50 metres away. Many of these apartments directly overlook Four Mile Beach Their room and resort facilities are particulary good as well as the new owners have just spent $1.5 million improving them. All rooms have new and modern kitchen facilities, new beds, modern bedding and furnishings, new HD large flat screen TV's. They spent $25,000 alone installing superior internet exclusively in each room to ensure the fastest and most secure internet connection possible in the tropics. They have built a new heated pool, provide daily free beach towels, beach chairs, beach games, floaters for the beach, unlimited ice, ice coolers, wine coolers, holiday books, DVD players, DVDs, Ipod speakers, CD players, barbecue and picnic boxes . And for their family friendly rooms (at the back of the resort) they provide free cots, high chairs, baby baths, strollers and joggers. Barbecue areas have been created within the resort which are complimentary. They also have the latest Beach cruiser bikes for very cheap rental

Getting there:If you are self driving, take the Port Douglas exit off the Captain Cook Highway, follow the road right down to the bottom and turn right in to Macrossan Street. By the Sea Port Douglas is the last resort on your left before the beach. If you would like us to organise a bus to pick you up at the airport, we would be happy to arrange it for you. Just let us know your flight details (by E mail or phone). The cost is $33 per person one way.
Check-in Procedure:The reception is open seven days a week from 8.30 - 5.30 pm. If you arriving later than that, we will leave a note on reception door telling you which room you are in and we will leave your door open and the keys in the apartment and look forward to seeing you the following morning. If you have any concerns though out of hours, we are only three minutes away, so do not hesitate to contact us on our mobile at any time. Check Out Time 10:00hrs
Car parking:Free on-site, undercover parking is available day and night. Book your Tours conveniently at our Tour-Desk. All tours pick up from property. Taxi and Limousine services are available. Local shuttle bus stops at property.
Child Policy:We do love children and they are most welcome as long as they do not disturb other guests. The family rooms which cater for children are all at the back of the building, whereas those for couples are near the front. For those with children we provide complimentary cots, high chairs, baby baths, strollers and beach toys
The staff made us feel very welcome and were most helpful. The cosie room was comfortable but the balcony looked out into rain forest up close so quite dark, cool on a hot day so if you are not booked in there to enjoy a view you should enjoy.
Had a wonderful stay at By the Sea Port Douglas.. we were upgraded to a suite that had everything we needed... kitchenette and laundry facilities in the room (although the washer/dryer was a challenge to operate).. great location 100 yards from the beach.. the hotel staff were delightful and very helpful.. They provided bicycles, beach towels, ice and excellent advice on dining and sightseeing. They have recently renovated the hotel so it had a new feel to it and was clean and pretty. Wifi in the room worked great. Loved it.

Great value option for those who want the premium and convenient location, comfort and full facilities, but prefer to save their money to spend on tours and activities. Price includes 4 people.
These have the same lovely interiors as the Sea Views Superior and they also have a good view. They are on the first floor and overlook the pool and have side views of Four Mile Beach. King bed (plus single bed or sofa bed if requested).
Definitely not a 5 Star hotel but a perfect base from which to explore Port Douglas and surrounds. It has great facilities and Cathy is very helpful, friendly and efficient. By the Sea is clean, quiet and perfectly positioned for an easy walk to the beach or to the town CBD. Port Douglas is expensive so while the tariff may seem excessive, this is the norm for the area and you wont get better at a cheaper rate. We will definitely stay here again if we ever visit Port Douglas again and will unhesitatingly recommend it to anyone looking for this type of accommodation.
Very nice, clean apartment overlooking the pool. Excellent position close to the beach, a few minutes walk to bars, restaurants and shops. Katie was very helpful and informative with booking of trips and resort advice. Thank you for a lovely stay.
I really enjoyed my stay here . The location was perfect as it says right by the sea, and also just down the road from the shopes so it was near everthing. The staff were very friendly and were willing to help you in any way they could. I would definitely stay there again as I was travelling alone nI felt very safe there too and any trip you wanted to go on they would organise it for you so yes a good choice

Fantastic location - short stroll to shops and 20m to the beach. 15 min walk to Marine for cruises. Lovely staff and nice room (big screen TV).
If you are looking for somewhere on a budget just to sleep in a very good location right next to the beach and shops then this the place. However if your looking for a romantic getaway you better pay a bit more and book a resort as its just a bit small and noisy but as I was paying a little we couldn't complain. The staff are really friendly and try their best to add value - austar, eski's, beach chairs etc.

We stayed at By the Sea just for a night and it wasn't long enough. All the team there were so hospitable and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. They have done a really good job of refurbishing the rooms. They are clean and nicely presented and excellent value for money. A huge plus was that there are pool toys, towels, eskis and beach chairs available to borrow at no extra cost. The location is great, right next to the beach and just a 7 minute walk down the main street to the markets and main hub. Great for couples or families, can really recommend this and will definitely be going back! Thank you girls, great job!
We stayed only one night. It was very comfortable stay. We are thinking to go Port Douglas again and to stay at "By the Sea".
We had a fantastic time at this place, the new owners are right on the ball, nothing seems to be a problem for them. They gave us unbiased information about tours, restaurants and places of interest. The location is as good as it gets in Port Douglas. We will definately be back for more, probably in September.
Archipelago Studio Apartments in Port Douglas is in the best location. 1 minute walk to beech, 2 minutes walk to shopping and restaurants area. Rooms are good size, clean, and with all equipment what you need. Staff are friendly and helpfully :)
