Cairn Hotel Edinburgh Guest Reviews

3 out of 5

I was just staying overnight for a business meeting in Ediburgh the next day. For that it was almost perfect: a slightly confusing 20-minute-ish walk to the train station but nonetheless close enough (and bus or cab would have been easy) and basic room with TV and internet access. Room was very small but had an old-fashioned charm about it and the price was very low. So having my own bathroom and all the basics made it good value. It is also off on a quiet side street and quiet at night and staff were very helpful.

Good clean hotel, good location in centre of edinburgh. Wi-fi good. A little noisy, but that didn't spoil my stay. I would book this hotel again for an inexpensive city centre stay.

My favourite place to stay in Ednburgh. Good price, location, wifi; clean and friendly. I need nothing else.

The hotel room was cold and we told reception and nothing was done about it. The furnishings and carpet were very tired and stained and didn't look clean the shelf in the wardrobe area was uncovered chipboard. Good location 15 minutes walk from city centre.

I found this hotel to offer good value for money in a great location only 10 mins walk from Princes Street. Exactly what you would expect for the price. I wouldn't bother with breakfast as it's usually not included and isn't worth paying for.

When i booked the room it said breakfast included but when i got there it said breakfast was not included. The toilet seat was broken when i got there. It was not until i got home the following night that it was fixed. The room was not cleaned evry day and the bed not made up. The staff were friendly enough. The location was great within walking distance of most places. The restaurant was a lovely restaurant and the food was good.I had a good stay there despite the room problems. The guests were friendly and one of the recpetion/bar staff was very friendly. If you want something that is not too pricey then i would recommend here.

Extrremely pleasant welcoming reception member of staff, who also had to serve in the bar. The room was very clean and tidy; the common areas were 'tired': worn carpets on the stairs, tired-looking tbales in the bar lounge, but then shows it is popular. A good choice for an overnight stay.

The room was very small, I would not have wanted to stay in such a room for a longer period than the two nights. Staff very friendly & helpful. Good location for Edinburgh shops and resturants. Private parking in locked yard behind Hotel a bonus. Would use same hotel again.

Not the best hotel in Edinburgh, but not the worst. Some of the rooms were a little bit poor condition. Nice staff tough.

generally clean, but on one day the bed was very poorly made, with the quilt half on half off the bed,and one pillow in the middle of the bed.. No milk was left in our room that day, BUT when we asked, we were given a plentiful supply so all was well. Well situated within 6/7 mins walk from Princess St, with lots of cafe, resterants and pubs near by. In all a very satisfactory stay, we would stay here again.

Would definitely recommend this hotel for an almost central, and for us very cheap, base to explore Edinburgh. Only hassle for us was that although the website and their in hotel information said they had car parking 'available'- this was only on street and metered between 8 and 6. Not Ideal but not manageable, but on a busy day or night you'd be stuck to get a spot near the hotel.

What went well? Great value Hotel in the centre of Edinburgh, room was small but clean and presentable with good shower. Breakfast was buffet nice and simple.Bar open when came back in on evening. What could be done differently? Have lounge service available ie tea & coffee when reading papers or waiting to check out in a morning, etc. Overall good stay, thank-you very much.

THis is excellent value for money. We stayed 4 nights and didn't expect much given the price, but were very pleasantly surprised to find a clean, comfortable room, with brilliant room service every day, tea/coffee/hot chocolate making facilities cleaned and stocks replenished every morning, friendly staff, and a modern shower/bathroom. We were very impressed and will definitely come back. One suggestion though: sky TV in the room would be nice as currently there are only 4 channels available.
