California Othon Classic Hotel Rio De Janeiro

We enjoyed our stay at this budget hotel. The breakfast was nice. Excellent location and while decor and furniture is somewhat dated it was good value for money. We had a front room with balcony . Marvellous views.

Older style hotel right on Copacabana Beach. We were upgraded to a sea view room, which was great as was the breakfast. The hotel was clean and comfortable, with lots of charm and character but the rooms are a little tired. The only downside would be the aircon which was quite noisy, but i guess to be expected with an older hotel. Luckily it wasnt too hot when we stayed so we could turn it off. Would definitely stay here again

A wonderful location (facing Copacabana beach), this Hotel is however 'tired' looking inside (except the restaurant). The public areas and certainly bedrooms, need a lick of paint as a minimum, but really, a full refurbishment. The 4 star indicated on the door, is well overstated (2.5 I would guess). Breakfast (the only meal taken in the Hotel) was good

The hotel is very old and it seems never reverbished the last 20 years :-((. At the reception there was just 1 person. I did arrive at 11:00 AM, and after 3 other promises I got my key finally at 15:15. I would not recommend this hotel.

Nice and clean hotel, helpful staff, right on the Copacabana beach, close to many restaurants, good price with booking via [website]. Best breakfest what I ever had in hotel.

The room was very ordinary. Everything was old, more suiting a hostel than anything good. No view but I expected that as I didn pay top price. The check in was a ridiculous 3 in the afternoon & as I had flown ońight I just wanted to sleep but had to wait 3 hours. Maybe itś not a lot but I paid $100Au and could have got the same for half the price. The breakfast however was excellent.

The hotel is nice, nothing too flashy but comfortable, well maintained and clean. The breakfast was very good. The only problem was the staff, specially the receptionists. Check in took about 1 hour because no one seemed to understand the form printed from Rates to go and wanted to charge us more than what it said there. Meanwhile, we were sent to our room, only to find out that it was the wrong one (we had paid for a deluxe) and they said it showed standard on their computer, even though it said deluxe on the form. Once we established that was indeed the right price and got the right room, we were served by another receptionist and the whole thing started again! We received no apologies for the inconvenience and left us very frustrated. Non of the staff seem to speak good english or spanish (we do) which is a bit poor considering it´s an international hotel and made things harder. The hotel is fine, if everything runs smoothly and you haven´t got great expectations on the service.
