Checking in was fine and staff seemed to be friendly and helpful. However, the restaurant was poor in both the quality and variety of food and the service was shocking. Checking out was extremely good however and I suspect if the person who had checked us out had dealt with us at other times we would have felt better about the service of the hotel. Having said that we would stay there again because the rooms were fine and the location fantastic.
The beds are very comfortable. Unfortunately, the chairs dragging on the wood floors upstairs is quite noisy if you are on the first floor.
Hotel very good for families, particularly small children. Bedroom very nice - coll, calm Scandinavian colours. Hotel just outside Bayeux town centre, but only a short walk.
The Campanile Hotel Bayeux is conveniently located about ten minutes walk from the train station, and also it's about ten minutes walk from the center of town. It is a short walk from there to the D-Day Museum and the British Cemetery. The hotel itself is similar to an American interstate exit motel, and a nice feature for English speakers is that they have several UK channels on their TVs. The breakfast, served buffet-style, is really delicious, a nice combination of fruit, cheese, ham, pastries and yogurt. If you go to Bayeux for the World War II Normandy beaches tours, D-Day Tours (which has an office in a little shop across from the tourist information center) does a great job, with well-organized, informative and interesting tours. Even if you are just visiting Bayeux for the Normandy Beaches tours, don't miss the Bayeux tapestry. It really is amazing, and it doesn't take very long to see the museum where it is housed.
More choice in the menu would be nice although the food was nice.
I have stayed at many European hotels and almost all include breakfast at no additional cost. The breakfast at this hotel was very limited in food choices and very expensive, 7.20 Euros per person. We only ate there once because of it. We also decided that since the food was so bad in the morning, we did not eat there at night either. It may have been better, but we did not take the chance.
good location within walking distance of train station and town centre. Rooms basic but adequate and very clean. Seems all rooms (double) only have two small single beds Good cold breakfast buffet and other meals available although we didn't try them. Staff pleasant and accomodating when there was an error with our booking. Good choice if you are on a budget, looking for quiet and no frills.
Main course in restaurant very disappointing, however buffett starter and sweet selection excellent. No real lounge for residents and rooms very small but functional.
A clean, efficiently run hotel well placed for Bayeux and the D day beaches
Lovely site and friendly staff. Shame about the smoking in the resturant at breakfast! Not nice having to smoke someone elses cigarette along with your toast and cornflakes. Big shame. Also very poor vegetarian selection of food for evening dinning.
This hotel was excellent except for its restaurant.
Lovely hotel just 10 minutes walk from both the train station and the main parts of town. Friendly staff and comfortable accommodations.
It was cheap and very accessible for the Bayeux area. We only sampled the breakfast as we ate dinner elsewhere, but the breakfast was excellent value
