Capitol Square Hotel Sydney Guest Reviews

3 out of 5

Excellent location for Paddy's Market and Market City Mall and George St and getting in from the airport by train. Excellent breakfast included deal we got. Unfortunately at night we did not sleep well as it was hot and the air con was not working well and was very noisy. Got free WiFi for parts of the day which was good. Free inner city shuttle bus on George St and Monorail nearby. Room clean but bedding and decor well worn. Good flat screen TV. Overall great value for money for inner city hotel.

The facility is old and the room is small. The grout between ceramic tile turned black years ago. It is next to China Town and 30 minutes walk from Circluar Quay.

Convenient to all in the C.B.D. Checkin was slow and lift was busy. Convenient car park. Check the Sydney one way streets to get in! Breakfast was adequate and food was replenished when asked for. We would stay again. Room was a decent size, no view.

Hotel was clean and neat, breakfast was included in our price and was fresh and hot. The rooms were very basic but the location was what was the best - came out of our show at the Capitol Theatre and could take the kids straight to bed without having to fight the traffic or get a cab.

Middle of range hotel in a very good position close to Chinatown and Darling Harbour. We always stay here when we come to Sydney on business and have done so for several years. Breakfast is fairly basic. Car parking is under the hotel in a commercial car park but you get a discount. Even so it costs $30 a night. Reception reasonably friendly.

I found the Hotel to be very central to where I wanted to be in the Sydney CBD, and at a geat price..if only I had booked the breakfast the night before I could have saved $5 off the price, which would have meant me paying only $12, and not $17, which I ended up paying...The buffet breakfast was very good....Having only one lift was a bit of a drawback. But overall my experience there was very positive.

The staffs are really friendly and really helpful. The location is perfect and closed to Chinatown and World Square. The room is tiny but pretty clean. But the facility is not reached the standard as a 3-stars hotel. The hot water heater in room is not working. I have to run downstairs for a beer, and back to my room and realize there is no opener for it in the room and I have to run down again to the reception to open it. It is pretty noisey in the morning when all the doors open and shut when the other guests checking out, the lousey chain reaction started as early as 5am (I checked the desk clock). I fell in sleep like a pig again later... but if you are not an easy sleeper, this will be a nightmare to you.

The room was comfortable and clean, however the toilet seat is located too close to the wall and a column making it difficult to use.

If you don't mind very basic accommodation and less than perfect room cleaning but do want a great location and a convenient car park underground ($30 per night) at an affordable rate (at least when I stayed) then this is a good option. The bed was comfy and you can see city views from the windows on the 5th floor so you don't feel trapped. But this certainly is a basic hotel.

location was excellent, within walking distance to many Sydney attractions, namely, China Town, Paddys Market and Darling harbour. The accommodation itself was disappointing. The room was shabby with old fixtures, the bed was comfortable but the covers were old and worn looking, the side tables and lamps were old and dated. The air conditiong was poor and given it was a hot day the room did not cool down to a comfortable temperature for sleeping. The bathroom was shabby, and small with a shower over thae bath. The toilet sat tightly so the bathroom door opened onto it. The shower pressure was pathetic and there was no complimentary sopaps shampoo etc except for the dispenser that had in my opinion watered down shampoo and soap. The small fridge had no mini bar. Check in and out was good, prompt friendly service.

We enjoyed staying here. The location was perfect, very close to central station and a bus right out the front. The buffet breakfast was delicious and had a good variety of foods to choose from. Very clean and a very reasonably priced hotel, we would stay there again
