Carrington Hotel Blue Mountains Guest Reviews

3.8 out of 5

It's a really quirky place, and feels like it's trading on past glories, but I can't help liking it. We went for one of the cheapo rooms that has a shared bathroom, and the bath / toilet block is really weird... like something from a Victorian-era mental asylum but again, there was something about it that I liked. We paid $110AUD including breakfast and when you think that it was only $55 per person, there's not much to complain about. It's a great big place with loads of character and it has a really unique feel - not at all like the identikit hotels you get from the big companies. Perhaps not the place to stay if you're trying to impress a potential life partner, but it offers great value for money in a good location.

The hotel has been revamped but this is probably better reflected in the superior suites whereas I was in 'budget' which was clean and comfortable though I felt the room could have had a coat of paint as it had a tired feeling but I guess the glory days have gone. The shared bathrooms could have been better attended to as toilet not cleaned and towels left there from previous day;I left them there myself on a plastic chair as no receptacle available.

I have stayed at this Hotel at least 6 times. I love the atmosphere of the hotel. I absolutely love the location. It is extremely handy. However there are some things that need attention like tiles need replacing in the shared bathroom on the first floor. Some sections especially out the front need painting (the entrance). The televisions need to be updated in the rooms. What happened to the hot breakfast being included in the price. The hotel was famous for it especially with my family. I still love the experience of the grand hotel and the mountains but please don't let this lovely icon get run down because people do notice!

This is a lovely grand old hotel in beautiful condition. We stayed in a spa room and could not have been happier. Staff were very friendly and very helpful. Dinner was beautiful with excellent waitresses. A true credit to Management! We will be back! Highly recommend.
