Catalonia Atocha Hotel is located in the centre of Madrid, near Paseo del Prado and Atocha Railway Station, and only a short distance from the main museums and tourist attractions of the capital. The hotel was inaugurated in 2011 and has a fantastic solarium and terrace with heated Jacuzzi and wonderful views of the city. The building dates from the beginning of the 20th century and forms part of the Historic Villa de Madrid (Town of Madrid) and was built in the developed area of the city, after the demolition of the wall delimiting the city boundaries in the reign of Felipe IV. Built in the Neo-classic style, its façade is now one of the most spectacular and most frequently photographed sites in the famous calle Atocha and, by extension, the well-known Barrio de Las Letras, birthplace of many well-known Spanish Golden Age writers. In contrast to the classical design of its façade, the hotel has an avant-garde, modern and cosy interior and the latest in hotel technology: led lighting, an integrated intelligent air conditioning and heating system which is proof of the commitment of Hotel Catalonia Atocha to a sustainable future.

Atocha Railway Station is the core of Madrid transport network (high speed rail, trains, metro and buses). Inaugurated in the 19th century, the station is one of the emblematic landmarks of Madrid. Its atrium has been converted into a greenhouse, to make the wait more enjoyable for travellers. This tropic indoor garden has a surface area of 4,000 sq m and more than 500 species, including carnivorous plants, water plants, goldfish and its famous turtles.
