Catalonia Las Cortes Hotel Madrid Guest Reviews

4 out of 5

We chose Hotel Catalonia Las Cortes after reading so many good reviews and finding an exceptionally good rate on one of the major online travel sites. It is within walking distance of the Prado, Puerto del Sol and Plaza Mayor, plus all the shopping you could ever want. The room was large by European standards; the bathroom was enormous by those standards, and featured a separate bath and shower. Double-paned doors to the juliet balcony keep the street noise out but allow you to enjoy the fresh air. The only complaints about the room are the somewhat cheap-looking and -feeling wood laminate floors and the lack of space available for open suitcases. Staff members were professional and accommodating, and graciously communicated with us in English; however I did not feel the individuals I met were very warm or personable. Worse, when I asked for recommendations for coffee shops and tapas bars, all they would recommend was their own in-hotel restaurant. I can appreciate their desire to market their own facility, but I've never known a hotel to not gladly offer information about nearby restaurants. These small complaints would not keep me from considering another stay at this hotel, however I believe they're worth mentioning.

This hotel is perfectly situated for access to the key sites of Madrid and the wonderful plazas, restaurants and night life that make up the Madrid "experience". We stayed 3 nights in the standard double and one night in the best accomodations available. It is clean, quiet, and comfortable. Very respectable without the unnecesary extravagance ( and $$$) we observed of other plusher places we observed nearby. Staff were helpful and dependable though I would not say overtly friendly. We didn't dine in the restaurant with 100's of local options within blocks. Perfect for our purposes.

Great place but decor a little over the top for me. Lees marble and molding for a better price?

This is a lovely hotel in a very convenient area of Madrid. Our room was very well furnished, if a little bit small. We were situated next to the elevator, but the hotel is so well designed and soundproofed we didn't hear any noise from it or from the hallways. The staff were very professional and courteous. The hotel is in a fabulous location in the centre of old Madrid and very close to the Prado, Thysson, Atocha station and the Plaza Mayor and Royal Palace. We'd definitely stay again.

Ideal location, lovely hotel, small bar but it was just off Santa Ana square so we walked everywhere. Most bars in Madrid still allow smoking which is hard to get used to and the tapas bars were packed

Well-appointed (save the lobby) hotel in a great location a block from Palza Santa Ana. Asked about room availability and was moved to a large corner unit for no charge. Very happy.

For the price we paid (75 EUR) this hotel is truly excellent value. Spotlessly clean, friendly, helpful English-speaking staff and superb location in what I think is the liveliest part of old Madrid. Our room was huge with equally enormous bathroom + shower room. The only (slight) complaint was our double bed was actually 2 singles pushed together, which tended to drift apart during the night! This hotel is closer to 5-star than 4. You won't regret staying here.

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. Great hotel in a central location.Rooms were a good size with a large bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good breakfast, did not eat in the restaurant as plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.Would recommend this hotel and would stay here again if we returned.

Hotel is very well located off Plaza Santa Ana, in between Puerta del Sol and the Prado. Everything seemed to be about 10-15 mins walk away at most. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I was offered a room overlooking the street or courtyard and from the reviews I had read about Madrid hotels and noise levels from the rooms overlooking the street, I opted for the courtyard! Otherwise, room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Didn't choose to have breakfast there so can't comment on their food. Overall, a very good hotel, very close to the 3 main sites in this area, Prado, Sofia and the Royal Palace. Only annoying thing was that the hotel only had wi-fi access, and not an internet terminal. Still, there's a shop around the corner which charged 90c for half hour internet use. When I go back to Madrid I would definately consider this hotel again.

The hotel is in a great location; we walked everywhere. It has just opened 2 months ago and is not widely known to the tourists. A great bargain at this point.

Having recently stayed at the Catalonia Las Cortes Hotel Madrid, I would certainly recommend it to other travellers. The location of the hotel is excellent and you can enjoy the sights which are accessible within a 10 minute walk.

The tasteful facilities and elegance of this hotel are tops. It was the best value of our two-week Spanish trip. The location is central but quiet. Nouveau tapas and wines at the wine bar diagonal across the street.

This was an extremely pleasant stay in a lovely recently refurbished hotel. Breakfast was included and was outstanding! It was large enough to satisfy our teenage boy until a late lunch. The staff was courteous and we felt pampered. I would stay here again.
