From Bologna-Taranto Motorway: Exit at Bari Nord, and head towards Altamura-Matera (SS 99).
From Salerno-Reggio Calabria motorway: Exit at Sicignano degli Alburni, towards Potenza. Follow directions to Metaponto (SS 407 Basentana) until you reach Matera. From the SS 106 towards Metaponto, follow the signs to Matera.
By train
The closest stations are Ferrandina Scalo (35 km) and Bari (66 km ). From both, it is possible to reach Matera by bus with FAL (Ferrovia Appulo Lucane).
By airplane
