Met my expectations. Spartan room, shared toilet, wifi in lobby ONLY. If you're looking for place to spend the night, this might be a good choice. Exercise caution in the neighborhood though.
I booked this hotel cause it was central and to be honest cheap.Based on the price that I paid and some of the reviews I read I wasnt expecting too much. I was pleasantly surprised. It far exceeded any expectations I had.Beautiful reception area, like out of a 5 star hotel.Pleasant helpful staff. My room was cleaned every day.I liked the security aspect of like an old style hotel dick in reception who asked to see your key before you could get in the lift.Handy location for transport to anywhere in LA.Would definitely stay there again if and when I am in LA again. The only thing I'd say is if you want ensuite then maybe this hotel is not for you, cause I didnt have that, but there were at least 3 shower/bathrooms on my floor and they were always available. My top tip when paying for anything is does something represent value for money, and this hotel was excellent value for money(£163 for 1 week) in central Los Angeles!
Queen bedding and bathrooms with community showers
One Queen bed
if you are looking for great service than this is not the place for you. However if you are looking for a great deal, than this is it. for a little over $60 bucks a night and in the heart of la this is a great deal. save your $ and use it everywhere else! there are many shops and food places in the area.
I did the hotel only for sleeping in an interesting city. That was a good idear. I missed the inclouded breakfast, but the stuff was very helpfull what ever I wanted.
Location is good, considering the price you pay at the downtown area. 8mins walk to 7th street metro which you can take train to union station and Hollywood. Close to the staples center if you are watching basketball or ice hockey. Not too safe a location thou as it's few block away from homeless mission. So do expect a few homeless people loitering around the corner. Hotel room is clean, however there is a oldish smell and the bathroom sometimes does not have hot water. Good thing thou is the hotel condition is clean. There is free Internet in the lobby area.
Good for location, poor otherwise
An old hotel with small rooms but for the price was good value
An execellant Hotel in a good location and staff who are friendly and offer assistance . I have stayed here before the refurbishment and now its a beautiful place I will be happy to stay again and again. Congratulations Cecil Hotel!!
Hotel was undergoing renovations during my stay in Oct., 2008. The presentation of the foyer and hotel staff attitude was very good. Showers and bathrooms were old and below standard but were subject to the upgrade / renovations. The area after dark saw large groups of people, of shady appearance, hanging around the corners everywhere, but kept to themselves. The area during the day was good, handy to downtown and transport. Room was clean. This hotel is value for money.
This was a nice place to stay and the accommodation prices reflected the facilities. The location was good for down town LA. I went for basic and I'm sure if you want to pay a little more you would get more. Bed was good, pillow a little hard. BYO pillow. Staff were friendly and helpfull. I will stay there on my next visit.
they did have toilet roll and the staff were very friendly and helpful. basic rooms but they have huge tv's in the rooms and the hotel is decorated to a very high standard.
My stay at the Cecil Hotel was very pleasant. Beautfiul reception area. Rooms were a little bit small but conventional. I will definitely consider staying there again.
I am an old codger of nearly 50 and have stayed in many places, Cecil hotel has been by far the best value for money of any hotel i have experianced, staff very friendly , amenities very clean, and very cheap,
The hotel lobby is very ornate with a 20 foot ceiling, marble statues, side tables with vases w/flowers, and an abundance of mirrors. the front check in staff was very friendly. I hope to stay there again. The rooms were adequate with comfortable beds, I choose a room with a private bath.
