Ceylon Continental Hotel Colombo

Old but well maintained hotel. Rooms are bit on the smaller side. Very friendly staff. Very good location but expect few road blocks/ checkpoints (this will undoubtedly improve over the next few months as the civil war in northern Sri Lanka is now over!!).

I stopped here for 1 week in December 07. The hotel staff were fantastic. I've never seen so many smiling faces! The room was large overlooking the Indian Ocean. The bathroom was very clean. The hotel had 3 restaurants and a decent sized bar. Entertainment in the form of bands were on every night and made for a good atmosphere in the bar. I ate in 2 of the restaurants (Tandoor & Cafe Emerald) and the food & service was excellant. The hotel also had a large outdoor swimming pool & gymnasium as well as a hairdressers and a supermarket. Overall, a top class hotel with wonderful and friendly people who work there.

The hotel staff were very friendly. The restaurants were in general very good both in quality and quantity with a wide selection to choose from. The pool and gym were OK.

there should be more shops available in the lobby area

Not a 5* hotel in my opinion, service definately needs to be improved

Probably the best value of the top end hotels in Colombo I have tried. Is not viewed as much as a prestige hotel as the Cinnamon Grand or Hilton by the locals but offers the same facilities and service. Make sure you go to the newsagent for your WiFi cards rather than the Business Centre as they are much cheaper

The hotel staff were very pleassant and helpful. the room was okay but disappointing in that there were no tea/cofee facilities. A few times soap and shampoo were not replinished daily. The smell of corridor on our floor had a dank smell. The security situation did not help as right outside were security policemen and army. Not wanting to sound overtly negative, we had a pleasant stay. However I don't think I would stay there again.
