Early check in and late check out made this trip more comfortable. No need to wander the streets because your room is not available. Very obliging staff.
Second time I stayed here and enjoyed it again.

Very convenient for our requirements. Bathroom way too small. Had to climb over toilet to get into shower! Could not use the sink in bathroom for anything. Way to small. Otherwise great location.
The exterior of this building has lovely character, and if you are lucky enough to be in a room facing the street, will enjoy the balcony. The interior is clean but a bit tired. The single room is spacious enough for one on a short stay. No issues in regards to having to share a bathroom and the shower water pressure is perfect. Would happily stay again
Staff were very friendly. The room was fine, but a little small. It would be quite hot in Summer, but was fine in October.
I booked a single room with shared bathroom/toilet facilities but was not aware that there was only one bathroom/toilet per area. Gaining access to the bathroom proved to be quite a challenge in the mornings due to the high demand. If you need to go somewhere in the morning and want to use the toilet or shower beforehand you need to build in sufficient time to allow you to wait for access unless you are planning on getting up before the rush or using it after the rush. The rooms have paper thin walls so any movement in adjoining rooms, exiting or accessing these or the watching of TV is very apparent and will disturb most people's sleep. There was a TV on al night in the room adjoining me on one night and I would have been lucky to have got 3 hours sleep. The rooms are clean and come with a sink, crockery and cutlery and a bar fridge. They represent reasonable value if you are prepared to put up with the limitations that I have just mentioned.
Best budget accommodation that I have stayed in. Small but functional room was quiet at night, found the staff friendly and located at Potts Point so easy to get to the city and eastern beaches. Will definitely stay there again I need cheap accommodation in Sydney.
a pleasant hotel in the lower price bracket - no elevators for older people but facilities and service adequate.
The service was good.The hotel staff were polite and courteous.Rooms were neat and clean, but no internet.The location is not far from the city.So, it is a good place to stay for a budget traveller.
Good price room with cooking facilities and balcony. Bus service at end of road and short walk to Kings Cross area. Supermarket close by.
we fully enjoyed out stay at Challis Lodge. excellant location -in the city, great internet rates, and we were also lucky enough to be upgraded at a very cheap rate. we paln on returning.
If there have a renovation for the whole building and fix some air con, that will be more good. SOmemore, if there have private facilities, that will be the best.
Usual good service and breakfast as a bonus.
The balcony room met our expectations and the daily breakfast was a bonus.
Just a room, but very quiet and a great location
A good budget place to stay. An inexpensive addition could be a plastic cup to drink water in each room. Also as cafe`s are 2 doors away could you arrange light breakfasts? We are not all backpackers! A good stay otherwise.
very nice victorian building, very good location, rooms are not renovated, very small, with old fixtures and appliances.
Any air conditioning would have vastly improved this hotel. "En suite" facilities were tiny. Be warned - there is no lift! Equipment was minimal. Fridge, kettle, hair drier and TV. There was a fry pan and no way to use it! Communal kitchen and laundry.
GREAT LOCATION, if your looking for budget accomodation this is good. I think your stay would really depend on what room you booked, because some are better then others. I had a really bad room, then thankfully was moved to another room!
