stayed in Charsfield Boutique Hotel for 3 nights and it is wonderful convince location,a classical style building located in a modern city.
Heritage building full of character but also has the disadvantages that come with an older, traditional building. No lift, so ask for ground floor room if you have heavy luggage. Bedroom is well presented, bed comfortable. Modern bathroom is long but narrow with a step up from the bedroom and the narrow shelving in the bathroom (floor to ceiling but only 20cm wide) doesn't leave room to put your toothbrush etc (looks good but not really functional). There is a convenience store at the next junction north of the hotel on the other side of St Kilda Road.
The hotel was lovely from the outside and in a very good location on St Kilda Road with great tram access to St Kilda & Melbourne but on entering a little less than we expected from the description on the website. Sold as a boutique hotel with old age charm I feel it was a little bit more of the old. Dated decor and a very inferior room on first checking in did not add to the experience. This was sorted and we were moved to a suite swiftly! A very good setting, nice breakfast but the smell of cooking in the hotel communal areas does not give a good first impression! Not my idea of boutique really!

fantastic hotel~ very nice receiption staff. just a little bit far from the city centre but the traffic is very convienent, tram in front of the building. will stay when i go to melbourne next time.
Good location for the city if you use the tram in St Kilda Rd. Carparking and access for luggage is difficult - no lift for up stairs. Bathrooms are VERY small.
Converted Victorian mansion retaining its old world charm with modern facilities.Easy access to the CBD via the tram across the road and Met tickets are available from the concierge.
The restaurant was great for dinner.
A very pleasant experience. The staff were very nice and friendly and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and great food, both for breakfast and dinner. Will certainly stay there again. The Hotel was a 5 minute ride into the CBD on the tram.
A hotel with a homely feel and a whole lot of charm. Look forward to my next stay.
