Chiangmai Gate Hotel

"This is an unpretentious "value" hotel. For a low price you get a reasonably comfortable room and a decent breakfast buffet with a made-to-order egg station. We had a good view from our 5th floor room. The basic laundry services were (shockingly) only 40 Baht per Kg, on par with outside services. One downside is the tired rooms. The toilet was difficult to flush (they were supposedly working on it, but no progress in 3 days). Nearby are many cheap, cheap food stalls at night. And on Saturdays there is an excellent, huge night market nearby. It's a very long walk to the main touristy areas. The red busses can be had for 20 Baht (tell them where you want to go and ask how much). Tuk-tuk might be 50 Baht (negotiable). Another weakness is the internet - 50 Baht per hour and didn't work well. In summary, it's a good choice for those wanting to save money, but avoid if you want to be pampered." - Anonymous
