Chic & Basic Born Hotel Barcelona

Originally designed hotel. Just around the corner of the busy neighborhood Born in the quiet part of the Carrer del Princessa. Only the breakfast waitress could be a little bit more cheerfull.

A very cool looking hotel whose reception staff were particularly helpful. Comfortable and clean, great location.

Rooms are small but functional, and anyway, the excellent location in the most interesting area of the old city means you won't do anything but sleep there.

Good hotel, great location in terms of restaurants, bars etc. Found it a little weird having the shower room only feet from the bed and not in a seperate bathroom. Overall worth a stay but only if you dont mind losing privacy in the shower.

The 'white room' restaurant was not open at convenient times. Plus there were problems with the technology in our room. The corridors could do with being carpeted as at night and early in the morning it is very noisy. Apart from that it was a fantastic hotel and definitely recomment it.

Would definitely stay here again. We had a large room with a balcony. Very helpful staff, goregeous rooms. We very much appreciated the chill out area with free tea & coffee and bottled water.

This is a fantastic hotel in a great area. It's unique, quirky and quiet. You can set your own mood lighting in your room. There's a chill out area with free coffee and tea and a restaurant / bar downstairs. (You can also have breakfast here for 8 Euros but we went to local cafes instead.

We loved the hotel. The decor was fabulous and dramatic..especially the hanging bead curtains in out room and outside the door...all of which were lighted different, changing colors. The entire place was "way cool." Gail and Warren O. Savannah, Georgia

I would definitely stay here again, it was really stylish and comfortable. It was a little noisy at night being in a popular district but I think that is to be expected. Try a walk to the seafront at night its only 10 mins away and really worth the walk, the restaurants are really cool and not many tourists!

The location is great but it is a bit too shabby as a hip hotel.

Upon first arrive to checkout we felt very much at home with the friendliness of the staff and facilities available. We had free access to the internet in addition to bottles of water which can be very handy. The room was lovely and we would have much preferred to have stayed longer if we could have. Totally recommend this hotel as a relaxing and fabulous place to stay. Even staff at the White Bar (next door) were friendly and the music playing in the hotel was awesome with a funky soundtrack. Fantastic stay.

One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in

Gorgeously modern and stylish hotel but maybe lacking slightly in luxury

The location of the hotel was excellent only 15 minutes walk to ramblas, the hotel facilities were alittle lacking ie gym very small, the hotel guest services were asked for more pillows and remote control for lights none were provided, also they did not clean rooms well. I felt overall I probably would not stay at this hotel again due to the room sizes and quest services.

Interesting concept.

Good ambience, free tea and coffee a good idea. Room for improvement in restaurant food, our meals were under cooked and of insufficient quantity. Rooms could benefit from a set of drawers, but otherwise of a good standard.

If you are open minded for a different and modern style of furnishing/design and like it simple it's a great hotel. We will stay there next time we visit Barcelona.

Overall we liked the hotel especially it's location. We suggest that you ask for an inside courtyard room - they are very quite and you get the morning sun. Ours even had a good size balcony. A self-service coffee machine and unlimited bottled water is available. As well as a wifi connection and access to a computer (all in the lounge). The bathroom takes a little getting used - absolutely no privacy. So if you are traveling with someone you don't know well this may not be the right hotel for you. Just be aware that the rooms are small so I suggest you upgrade to a large room. By North America standards - even a large room is small. Even though we had reserved a large room we asked to change since this "large room" was really small and only a small window - it really felt claustrophobic. The staff was accommodating. The pluses: location, service, price, and cleanliness; t The minuses: room size. We would have no problem staying in this hotel again.

Beautiful modern design in a traditional Barcelona town house. Excellent value, large comfortable beds, modern unusual room design - open plan bathroom. Excellent location - Born is interesting, away from the less appealing tourist traps, lovely restuarants, shops etc. You can also walk pretty much everywhere central (including the waterfront) from here.

This hotel was hard to find (no number or name outside). It is next to a bar kitty-corner from the Chocolate factory and near the Picasso Museum. The location was terrific, the personnel great and spoke great English- very helpful, and the room was very clean. But, it was undergoing restoration, and the lift was broken, and the rooms didn't have a waste basket, phone, or closet, but everything was brand new. I asked for a hair dryer, and got one immediately. (No parking but several lots two to three blocks away.) We were there Mar-06 so things are probably better now.
