very centrally located about 4 euro from train station to hotel via taxi .lovely breakfast(did not eat later there as lovely little restaurants close by) but menu etc looked realy nice.Staff at pool very friendly and in house keeping too
Excellent accomodation, very friendly and helpful staff.
The Hotel Cidadela was excellent value for money. Whilst a little dated and tired in places, overall it is clean, safe, comfortable and spacious. The staff were mostly pleasant and helpful. The pool was spotless. Breakfast was plentiful and the end time very flexible! Our little balcony and having a fridge in our room (as well as the BBC on our TV!) were added little bonuses! The main downside of the hotel is it's air conditioning, which did not seem to work. With the main road going past our room, keeping the window open wasn't really an option, so getting the a/c fixed should be a priority for the hotel. Extending the wifi to all rooms will also be a good bonus for the hotel too.
Breakfast was great. From the room very nice view to sea.
This is an older hotel but for cleanliness, friendliness of staff and value for money it is one of the best Hotels we have stayed in. The rooms in the older part of the hotel are large and there was still plenty of room even with an additional bed for our daughter. I would definately recommend this hotel for anyone thinking of staying in the Cascais area.
Great view from the balconies.
This was a charming hotel with good facilities. Rooms have a lovely old fashioned charm to them. The lounge areas are very pleasant and there is a decent restaurant. The pool area is very well kept, with a pool boy supplying mats and towels for the free beds and a good range of snacks and drinks. Self catering appartments open out onto the pool area and are shaded. Rooms are spacious and very bright especially on the higher floors (3-5)where there are fabulous views over Cascais down to the sea. If possible ask for rooms in the older part of the building. Rooms in the newer section are noticibly smaller and far less charming. A main road runs directly outside the hotel: a little noisy by day,it is quiet at night and completey cut out by the double glazing. Sevice was excellent and courteous. The beaches are a mere 10 minute walk downhill and Caiscais itself is lovely with an excellent range of restaurants (try Masala, the Indian restaurant for an excellent curry)
The rooms are dated (especially the bathrooms) and there seemed to be trace odours of dampness in the rooms. That said, we very miuch enjoyed our stay and the restaurant and bar were in particular great VFM. A family-orientated hotel, the pool and pool bar were super and made all feel welcome. The short walk to downtown, the beach and the train station kept the holiday pounds off. We would stay here again.
Good facilities but rooms, especially bathrooms, need updating. A lovely town to stay in.
We were allocated a suite which was separate from the hotel and was very spacious for the 2 of us. The deco was a bit dated but the room was clean. We had a terrace leading to the pool area which was very nice, though the terrace itself had not been cleaned for a while (but we were out of season - March). Breakfast adequate. Hotel staff friendly and very helpful. Would recommend this hotel for its location and reasonable price.
A very nice hotel for its price. Much noice from the street below, but this can,t be heard when closing the windows.
A dated hotel with aging decor, but very clean and well maintained on a day to day basis. Central location with easy walk to good restaurants, bars and the marina / beaches. Traffic noise may bother some people, but we're used to city living.
Represents excellent value for money. Nice pool and decent breakfast. Room looked like it had recently been decorated.
Evening meal menu very limited. Hotel suited to the older traveller. Otherwise not bad.
It is a very nice hotel :)
They could not offer the room as we booked in the first night. No hot water supply due to water pipe line rebuilt, we have to take bad at another room, and it take a long walk to another room for bathing.
Breakfast very disappointing for what is claimed to be a 4 star hotel !
Very nice hotel in a pleasant area, convenient for the the town and for public transport to places out of town. Frequent 30-minute train journey to Lisbon.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The Cidadela is a great hotel close to the beach and downtown. It was a bit hard to find initially but once found it is pretty easy to get back to. We would certainly stay there again.
