Clarendon In Katoomba (The) Guest Reviews

3 out of 5

The night duty manager (upon arrival) was very friendly and provided us with the eating guide when we were browsing the brochures section for places to eat. Location is pretty good, close enough to the 3 Sisters for us. Unfortunately the service and the location was marred by 1) it was definitely not very clean, 2) there were a few bugs, which my wife hated, and 3) no air conditioning, which made it a very hot stay in Katoomba.

Very good"can't do enough for you" service; old world charm/ quaintness.

For the price this motel type room is good if you are looking at staying for one night. I stayed in a Guesthouse room with own ensuite and brass bed. The only thing that I have to criticise is the brass bed - it was not very long and very easy to touch the end of the bed! Breakfast buffet was included in the price and was pretty good.

Stayed in a motel type room, which was basic but modern and immacutely clean -which was important to me, had a really comfy bed, which came with an electric blanket - which went down really well as it was freezing! lovely big powerful shower that we didnt want to get out of. Motel settings made it private - we came and went as we pleased. Top notch breakfast the next morning, fry or pancakes.....exactly what we were looking for, very pleased with our stay, thank you!

Pretty basic but unpretentious hotel with some faded charm - it's got character! I'd probably stay here again if I were going to Katoomba.

Good location, not so far from echos point and Leura cascades. Good breakfast also with some delicious pancakes. Charming room, maybe the queen size a little bit small (I'm tall that's true).

Clarendon is pretty easy to be found in Katoomba and not far from main places of interest. The motel rooms are clean. Air conditioning is a bit loud and not strong enough. The worst thing about it is the parking in front of motel rooms-the spaces are just too small and you have to drive very carefully in case scratching other cars. The breakfast is said to be "continental" but there are only 2 choices: egg with bacon tomato or Canadian Pancakes. If such things can be called "continental" then I have to either amend my original definition of continental breakfast or redefine an English breakfast to be fish 'n chips! This is really the worst continental breakfast I have ever had in my experience travelling to over 20 countries except Africa. But its price is competitive to other similar class motels.

I got this one confused with the very fancy looking [other hotel] which might be deliberate. Our room was incredibly cold, there seemed to be a cold draft and the heater gizmo seemed to warm the upper 5 feet of the room and not the lower 5 feet, very odd indeed. The place is a bit run down, but quirky too and has character, the staff try very hard though, especially the breakfast chef who was a brilliant guy. We stayed in mid Aug which is bound to be cold, and we also got wet one day outside which didn't help out mood! Katoomba is a fab place!

We found Clarendon to be a most appealing hotel with good bedrooms and facilities. The bar was great, as were the nightly live events, and the communal lounge room with comfy couches and log fire topped it off. The location is also good being close to the Three Sisters and shops.

What a nice surprise we received to stay here , guest rooms were lovely and we felt very comfortable and welcomed on our arrival with a choice of guest rooms to stay in .After the show we didnt have to go very far to our room . Three sisters and main centre not very far away either. Yulefest dinner was excellent for the price. Would definitely !!!!stay here again , great value for price.

The owners were very helpful with local information on transport, sight seeing, restaurants and weather temperatures. The Clarendon is only 50 metres from a good RSL.
