Situated in a historical building dating back to the 16th century, the hotel offers an extremely quiet and serene environment.
Initially a religious school for Jesuits, the Cloister saw its function changed over the centuries to a military hospital, and a home for the elderly.
After a thorough renovation in 1990, the building is now a prominent cultural center and a 4-star hotel. It's a very convenient location in the heart of Avignon. Papal palace, bridge, and other museums are within walking distance. Private car park, and train station are at 200 meters.
The spacious rooms, all furnished in a contemporary design, are located in the Cloister and in the extension completed in 1991. This modern wing is the work of the world-famous French architect Jean Nouvel. A majority of the rooms are overlooking the Cloister courtyard (superior rooms and suites) or the peaceful garden (rooms standard Jardin). All rooms have air-conditioning, bathroom with tub/shower, hair-dryer, cable TV international channels (English speaking BBC World), minibar, individual safe, direct dial telephone. There's a separate toilet in most of the rooms. Room service available. Non smoking rooms only. Roof-top open-air pool and sun deck (May-September).
